Hi, does anyone happen to have the front OEM coil spring specifications for a 1986 mercury colony park? If so, that would be much appreciated. Thanks
I could not find listed specs for your wagon, however I did find many different sites including Ebay, Amazon, RockAuto, and ShockWarehouse which sell a MOOG 8795. These websites indicate that the part is a direct replacement for an `86 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park 4-Door Wagon. Then searching on MOOG's website I dug up the following information: ID - 5 Inches ID - 127mm Bar Diameter 0.62 Inches Bar Diameter 15.90mm Spring Rate - 182 lbs per inch Load 790 lbs Installation Height - 12.69 Inches Installation Height 322.30mm Free Height 17.04 Inches 432.80mm Pigtail ends on both with a constant rate spring type. Design load - 1100 ??lbs?? No bushings included. 8.16 coils with an outer diameter of 6.260 inches.
I appreciate the help, but i need the OEM specs. I replaced the rear springs with MOOG springs with what I thought were OEM height, but actually ended up being a couple inches shorter and so now my wagon is squatting. I don’t mind the look so I’m going to try and lower the front as well the same amount as I lowered the back, so I need to know what the front spring OEM free height is. Thanks
I don't think there is a free spring height specification, but there is a body ride height specification. You can Google it, see if it's on the Net.
On the rear, and IIRC, the sensor did have three adjustment notches. The only Blue Oval car I know of with four-corner airbags was the FWD Continentals.
