Finally, a wagon owner - from Missouri I am in the process of buying a 1952 Chrysler Town & Country. It looks beat but it was too cheap to pass up. All the major panels are remarkably straight and all the glass is good except for a small crack in the driver's side front window. It's going to need new rockers and part of the floor but I can't wait to get possession of it and then figure out what to do.
A 52 Town and Country? I'd love to see what it looks like. You've got to be so excited; I know Iwould be. When are you supposed to get it?
First week of May. I posted pictures but it said a mod needed to approve the post first. Typed in "1952 station wagon" on Ebay looking for a Chevy when this thing popped up. Noticed that it was just 50 miles from my house but they were wanting $1,600 OBO for it. Ended up emailing the owner and told her to keep me in mind if it didn't sell. It didn't and she sent another email so we set up a time for me to come take a look at it (4/10). Last price they quoted was $1,400 but it was clear that they wanted to get rid of it. Went home and had an email from them wanting to know what I thought. Told them they should go ahead and list it again but that I'd keep an eye on it to see if the price was lowered. She asked me how much I'd be willing to give for it and I shot them a ridiculously low offer. Much to my surprise, they accepted it.
Isn't it great to be in the Midwest? You can chase parts for the old classics in a few days of hard driving. Like this spot in Florida: http://oldgoldcars.com/ You might want to look here too for the big Chryslers: http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/index.htm Especially here: http://www.imperialclub.com/index.htm
Bill S, check out Jolo's '53 Plymouth wagon in the gallery. It's amazingly similar to your Chrysler and should give you inspiration to "get er done"!! http://stationwagonforums.com/forums/gallery/showimage.php?i=5876&c=18
a nice working of the system!!!! sounds like my system for every wagon i buy you may be a Jedi someday and to us..
Delivered on 5/23. The owners trailered it to me for just $100. She originally said she'd do it for $60, but I felt $100 was fair so that's what I told them I'd give. 3 days later and the 50 year old bias ply tires are still holding air. That surprised me. Now......what do I do?
Bill!! Nice project! Now what do I do? Make a list of what NEEDS to get done just to start & drive,, and do the cosmetics later.. ( assuming) you did inventory on how to fund the restore project. You won't sleep good tonight
to the wagon train, Bill. I absolutely LOVE those old wagons. 52, 53 Chrysler T&C's are some of my very favorites. Does it have an engine? If so...what engine? You have a lot of work on that car but it will be well worth the effort. Nice score!
Where are you located? You can PM me if you wish. If you are close I would like to see the car. I really like those. there was a resto'd one I posted here recently that is gorgeous but, for some reason, I can't find it. It had some good pix that may have helped you out in your thoughts about your car. I believe it was a 53. I will keep looking for it. I envy you....that is a great old wagon.
Here's a beauty. Still haven't found the one I saw. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1953...iewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item5192fe0dea Here's one posted by cuda.... http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9026
