http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/4197073050.html Seems a bit spendy for a vehicle with an engine that's blown, and not in a good way!
Seems VERY spendy for a car in that over all condition, much as I would love to have it in my driveway.
Hmmmm.........if I replaced the missing trim, painted it, replaced the blown motor, and probably redo the interior......do you think I could get 12,000.00 for it?
Probably. But it sure ain't worth that now. Guy takes a wagon that looks like it's been sitting for YEARS, and thinks he can get 5 figures for it? IMO, it's worth maybe $800 or so.......
Not what I expected to see. I thought Krash was getting carried away with his low price suggestion. But I'd be wanting it pretty bad to even offer $800! Of course, what does BLOWN ENGINE mean? A blown hot running nice engine might raise the price to $5000. A blown up junk engine is nothing more than a boat anchor.
That's my point..........all fixed up, it's probably worth about what he wants before the work starts.
I clicked on the link expecting to see a minted out beautiful '64 Mercury, certainly not that one. Plus, I don't even think they offered the Marauder in a wagon so it's questionable if that's the original engine and drive train.
People are losing their minds, anything in the "vintage" catagory lately seems to be priced out of control. This is a prime example. Fishing for suckers with more money than brains. A guy was in a while ago with a 72' Chevy truck in rusted out Utah condition (saw it with my own eyes) sold it for 5 grand. Unreal. Probably worth about 1 grand max. I can see wanting a "project" vehicle but don't screw yourself in the process.
Why are there always two prices? What some vehicles seem to sell for. And what we can get out of ours? My 55 Chevy wagon once belonged to Marilyn Monroe and she did several nude movie scenes in it. But I lost all the documentation. Then Elvis bought it to travel to Hawaii to make a movie.
I gotcha beat, Cat...My Country Squire was used in the Brady Bunch TV series. Of course, the series used Mopars, was made 15 years before my car was actually built, and the car has never been in California; but there are pics somewhere of Greg and Marcia having sex in the back of the Ford during filming, but I can not find the negatives!
maybe it's got some rare drag racing history after all it isnt every day you see a 428 cj engine with dual quads and probably a 4 spd toploader in a wagon. and to some guy looking to replace his 428 cj back to original that block maybe worth a few grand alone.
But someone said it had a bad engine....BLOWN! ?????? -Blown 428 Cobra Jet engine block (all other components in good shape) The basic wagon is straight and looks like all the important trim is there. But everything is tired and in sad shape.
thirty yrs ago my buddy bought a 681/2 mustang 428 cobra jet. we went all over collecting parts for it. the shaker hoodscoop back then was around $800. my friend with a boss 429 just paid $1000 or $1200 for a n.o.s. battery. unless the block is cracked it can always be sleeved to repair it
