An old time long roof guy from Ohio. Just stumbled across the site while surfing the 'net. I hereby promise to be polite and socially acceptable. Although I have no new ideas to contribute, I do have a lifetime of lessons that I have earned. If I can help another learn versus earn a lesson, I promise to share.
My old wagon and I have been together for 34 years. Wow, hard to believe it yet it is true. We've been through .. raising a family, four dogs, five houses, poverty, prosperity, love, adventure, hard times, (did I mention adventure?) security, terror and peace.
Now for the qualifier, don't believe what I tell ya, see if my words support who I profess to be. Judge for yourself.
    All the best,
    Dale
    Cleveland OH
will post photos once I learn how to do so.......

    New guy greeting

Thank you for the welcome. After Katrina, I lost contact with an old acquaintance from Slidell. I hope that you and yours are well. No one seems to remember how devastating was the storm to cities beyond N'Orleans.
    Thank you,
    Dale

:Welcome:Dale. Nice introduction. I didn't make any of those promises and I'm still here and sometimes accepted----by a few!
Seems like you are beginning to enjoy your station wagon.

forgive my fumble attempts... I'm old and slow. The first pic was way back in the 70s. The second was maybe a year or two ago

That's a nice looking Checker and young guy next to it. :dancing:
You may be old and slow but us young guys will wait. We understand!
I know some bikers that hang around the Harley store in Cleveland.

"That's a nice looking Checker and young guy next to it." I hesitated before I put that picture up. Perhaps I shoulda hesitated a bit longer....
"I know some bikers that hang around the Harley store in Cleveland."
I don't associate with those kinda folks.... :disagree: but I probably rode/ride with their Father(s).
Thank you, the Checker is much nicer than the picture describes.
In time, I'll tell you a bit about it.

    Thanks Brother, btw, nice 55
    All the best,
    Dale

Daytona Bike Week is going on as we type. Only 140 miles and we are missing it too! But, like you, I try to stay away from those types of people.
It's time for my beauty sleep here in the sunshine State. Enjoy the forum. Some great members here.

PS Those old men I know are in their 60's. " but I probably rode/ride with their Father(s).

Welcome to the nuthouse we call home! I have a funny feeling you will fit right in around here! Great wagon, too. Bet there are all kinds of stories you have about life with one car for 34 years! Be sure to share! Also, never be hesitant to post pictures. We love our station wagon porn around here, and we seem to have a dearth of Checkers, so it is doubly great to see! Pull up a seat, and get comfy. It is always fun around here.

    :Welcome: aboard Dale!
I dig the Checker wagon. It's been quite a while since I've seen a Checker, let alone a Checker wagon. I think the airport 6-dr versions were more prevalent than the regular wagon body style.

    Welcome.:Welcome:
I'm South of Cleveland in Bainbridge Twp. and I've never seen a white Checker wagon in all my travels around town.:D
My brother ripped one off from a dealer on Mayfield in Cleveland Heights when he was 15, almost 50 years ago.
The cops caught him and his accomplice pretty quick after it was reported missing, not too hard to find a civilian type Checker wagon even back then.
A neighbor down the street actually bought the car a couple of weeks later.:)

I haven't been to Cedar Key, Florida in quite awhile. After all, it's over 30 miles from home. But the tiny local airport was using a yellow Checker wagon, maybe car, for years. It was so run down it had duct tape holding it together.:biglaugh:

"Bet there are all kinds of stories you have about life with one car for 34 years!"
Thankfully, the Checker can not speak. And I rarely give up a story as most could lead to an indictment.
"Be sure to share! Also, never be hesitant to post pictures." Thank you, I will.

"the airport 6-dr versions were more prevalent" When speaking of a Checker long roof, Yes, the six and eight door models were more prevalent. Mine was a "special order" private passenger rig from inception. It was never in commercial service.

"I'm South of Cleveland in Bainbridge Twp. and I've never seen a white Checker wagon in all my travels around town." I try to keep a low profile ....

"and thats a long term relationship too:cheers:" I tried a long term relationship with a couple of wives. It should be apparent that a wagon will always be faithful. Now that I think about it, I never had to buy an ex-wagon a house either.

"nice looking wagon" Thank you, I always knew that wagons were cool.

    All the best,
    Dale
