There were some requests during my intro here to post pix of my (daily driver) beater '80 Malibu - and I STILL haven't made time to shoot it. But since joining this forum, you guys have inspired me to finally start cleaning it up, after treating it as a rental for 15 years.

I finally cut off the miles of weld holding the trailer hitch to the frame - same deal with the tow bar mounts, up front. That allowed me to tuck the bumpers in several inches. The plastic interior was so sun-blasted, it crumbled to the touch, but for 15 years, I considered it to be "character". Now I consider it "gone" - it's at the landfill.
Threw out the rotten carpet, made new seat mounts (temporary - still not to my liking), hosed interior with a toxic mix of Comet and carb cleaner, scrubbed with stiff brush and blasted it with the garden hose. Been spending every spare minute sanding and spray bombing bare metal spots. Now I know what I have and what I have to do about it.

First priority is a pair of 15 X 8 steelies for the back (who has an affordable pair?) and hopefully some skinnies for the front. Gotta whack another coil off of each corner for a stance worthy of that rolling stock. The bottoms of both frame rails are rusted through, from the rearend to the back bumper, so I'll be spending some quality time under there, soon (before winter).

Once all of that is done, I'll have a car I can get inspired about and will continue with my ultra-mega lowbuck streetracer special. It's fun being 16 again...

Thanks guys - this is all your fault. And best of luck to all who are busting knuckles on their wagons!
    Scotty

I purchased full coverage insurance on "Sandelwood" today. Only a few days away from cruising and I am STOKED!

New registration and plates are next...

LOVE the idea of this thread! (y)

I recently had my A/C evaporator valve replaced and freon recharged. OMG the A/C is COLD! It blows at 39 degrees now and that's without setting the control switch on "MAX". Yesterday, by the time I got home from work, my finger tips and toes were nearly numb. :xmas:

I have long list of "things to do next", so I hope to have more posts here soon...and I look forward to reading others' posts too!

Between rain drops I finally got to tuck my wires into a wire loom to straighten up engine bay some. That seems to be where I have the most problem on all my projects getting engine bay looking half way decent, not sure why  that's why I kept my '66 c-10 plain jane, no extra wires, no a/c compressor or power steering.Looked just like a mocked up engine in it :rofl2:Thinking about putting some pontoons on my wagon,we are getting pounded dailey with rain so I am trying to cut 4 acres of soaked grass and work on wagon all the while looking like another thunderstorm fixin' to come down

Bah! Had to get another boost from StorminNorman today.
Swapped out the solenoid but it's still not charging up.

Of course this happens as I'm doing new front wheel bearings on the Caprice and need the car...

    I think I'll keep going tomorrow!:clap::banana:

Around 8pm I ran over to Woodward Avenue with one of my friends.
Attached are some pix from the Shell station in Royal Oak.
That 96 RMW was sitting across the street from the gas station...

Sorry for the picture quality; it was getting dark...

I just put a new (used, actually) windshield into my 67 "GP" wagon, and plan to take her in and register her in the next few weeks...

Had to glue the rear-view mirror back on yesterday. I've had that issue before and bought that 'rear view mirror glue' and it never worked right. Just used regular super glue on it this time and so far so good.

Installed my new (used) front mudflaps on my Loyale this evening, despite the off and on drenching thundershowers. Oh well, we do need the rain. :)

Hopefully these will keep the rocks and mud and nasty stuff off the bottom of the doors.

Now I just need to find time to wash my Sube. :pub:

It looks better in the pictures than it does "face to face", but it's good enough to drive!
