Hi Guys; Just introducing myself to the group. I've been looking to expand into a Wagon, preferrably a 71 - 76 GM Wagon, as I have fond memories of many family road trips in a '76 Pontiac Safari wagon. I do have a '67 Buick Electra Convertible, so maybe an Estate Wagon is in the cards? Anyway, I'll be hangin' around and would appreciate any leads on decent cars, so I can start making some new family memories. Looks like a great site, and I'm looking forward to spending some time around.
10:07PM There's a nice '73 Buick Estate in Seattle, I think. I'll find it and be right back...... ----------------------------------------------------- 10:20PM Sorry. It was a '74 in Forks, WA, sold on E-bay already....... Welcome to the forum. Marshall
from the other Vancouver, Doug. You've found the right place for all things wagonish. Good luck finding your dream wagon.
Welcome Doug. Another Vancouver and area wagon addition is great. There are surprisingly quite a few of us in the Lower Mainland and BC in general. Barry
There is this one - not exactly what you were wanting but just so you know these pop up on Craigs List and Kijiji (didn't see any Poncho's but Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler's just in a quick ten minute flip through the Craigs listings) In vancouver area http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pml/cto/1537479449.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/cto/1550941815.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/1534667749.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pml/cto/1528531779.html and http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/1548120533.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/1548506867.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/1551905423.html This one in Victoria which appears to need some work http://victoria.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1546630817.html If nothing else it gives you an idea of what you can expect for average condition and pricing - kind of. Obviously each car and it's conditions are unique. By the way, nice current toy you have.
Do you wet-coasters ever hit the IKY-BICKY Auctions? https://onlinebusiness.icbc.com/salvage/splashServlet/LoadSplashPage This is ours in MB. Always worth a check here: http://mpi.mb.ca/salvage/salvage_data.asp Welcome aboard Doug. Looks like parking that 225 could be interesting during the Games. Good luck with the wagon search. EDIT: Just looked at that ICBC site. You have to be a business or a lic. yard or mechanic? How anal is that? Here, you just have to have cash, then get the licensed mechanic (specially licensed for safety checks) to sign off on it. These safety mech shops are very careful about keeping their accreditation. And they know how to charge too.
from the beach Doug Ive seen your Ragtop around...nice!! theres really not much around here for the Clamshell wags...need to look in Wash/Oregon ...its easy to get them up here but i'll keep an eye out for ya...I luv spending other peoples money
Thanks for the welcome guys, and the leads... I had been focussing my search on BOP full-size wagons as that's where my comfort zone lies. Once I find one, then the negotiations with the wife starts I did try and get the wagon in Forks, WA, but was outbid in the dying seconds... I'm pretty patient as it took me a year of looking to find the right Electra, so I'll keep looking! Hey Rev, where have you seen the 'vert? It does make regular appearanes at the beach!
Welcome dmfconsult! Looks like we have a couple things in common. My family road trip memories were made in our '76 Chevrolet Caprice Estate. It took me a long time, but I found mine, a '75, three years ago in the mid-West. I wish you the best of luck finding your Pontiac. Keep us posted? Rev ~ Your comment about finding Clamshells in OR/WA intrigues me. Why is this? mcb
Yup...memories.....I've done some expanding in wagons myself....mostly in the backs of them in my early years. I was going to mention that Forks wag, dcon. Too bad you missed it...looked good from here. to the wagon train.
No more wannabe here!... picked up a one owner '78 Estate Wagon in Washington this past week. Only 90K miles on the clock. Pretty solid wagon all around, just needs some cosmetic work and cleaning, no rust or dents. Not the clamshell I really wanted, but it`ll do!
Congratulations on finding a brand new 1978 Buick. Very nice. There will be drooling when the folks here see that!!!
