Got new exhaust on the '86 Olds Custom Cruiser, not sure of the make of the muffler, but it sounds really good. The car isn't raspy at all, it sounds great! I love it, can't wait to go for a cruise. Anyhow, here's the video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaCAD3hFex8 Tell me what you think, it's louder than it was before though, but I'm not complaining, let the 307 roar! Sounds pretty good for a small block, 'least I think so.
sounds good:2_thumbs_up_-_anima doesnt sound loud at all...but it is a vid though. Looks like its tucked pretty nice too. I changed the exhaust on my car twice, cause it sounded too mellow. Keep up the work...and keep posting.
I think it sounds great..not much for stock exhaust so the change is always nice for me....looking at maybe doing duels on mine but havent picked out what mufflers i want to go with on my wagon
The exhaust that was on there before had been on there for ten years, little over ten years maybe. The muffler's end plates looked like a steel beaver chewed on them, and the pipe had holes in it so big I don't think the muffler was doing anything anyway, yet, except on idle, it's way louder than it was Even the guy who did the work was baffled as to why the car sounded that good, RV cam's are beastly is all I gotta say. So if a job I put an application for works out, she's getting a new non EGR edelbrock intake, new 4bbl carb, and a new dis to get rid of the Q-jet, and messy emission system that my father got rid of. Probably do away with the mechanical fan, AC isn't hooked up, might fix it, might not, I don't even have AC in my house, I won't want to get out of my car if I put it in my car. Just trying to squeeze power where I can, car runs a lot better with the new exhaust. Anyway, thanks for the comments.
Before you go swapping manifolds, you may want to check what heads you have. If you have 7A heads you will wind up with a ridiculous port mismatch and definitely LOSE power. The exhaust however sounds awesome!
I don't recall which heads this tank has, but I'll look tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up, worse case, I'll just permanently plug the unused vacuum joints, plate off the EGR, and slap on a new or remanned non ECM 4bbl, then swap the dis. And thanks, I still can't believe how good the car sounds. I know I'll have some fun toying with some former co-workers of mine soon. They all use to make fun of the car, but I know none of there cars will be around another twenty years, I'll still be driving that one then, they can't say the same for anything they've driven.
Just checked, it's got 7A heads, but the vacuum tree's appear changeable, so I should be able to change them to single outlets where we have them plugged, and I know I can block off the EGR pretty easily, my father's done it before on many engines. So, I'll just be yanking the carb, and dis, putting on a HEI Dis, and a new 4bbl, eventually, probably not for a while, the cap and button on that car don't have many miles on them. I'll probably go for a remanned Edelbrock or Holley, or I might go with a remanned pre-ECM Q-jet, I know some people don't like the Q jets, but I rather like that one, I just wish it didn't have a computer on it, I don't like anything between my foot and the secondaries. Anyway, got a minor exhaust leak somewhere on the pass side of the manifold, isn't loud enough to be a gasket, O ring is fine, gotta be a bad weld or hole in the manifold, after all, it's original too the car, and the chassis has around 300k miles on it. Oh well, I'll just yank the manifold from the '89 parts car if push comes to shove. I'll try to get some photo's indicating the heads later on, bit tired, mowed the grass today, it was unusually thick for this time of year, mower kept getting bogged down.
Part 2 of the new exhaust: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGUu__3ycVc&feature=youtu.be Bit louder this time, noone was home to yell at me
