Barrett Jackson had a Family Truckster replica in their auction this weekend and it sold for an unbelievable 91k, that's 100k with the buyer's premium. This has to be a case of it being offered at the right place and the right time. I saw it in person and it seemed to me to be well done but I never would have guessed it to sell that high, I figured it would go 25-30 thousand. It was defiantly getting a lot of attention from the crowd, everyone wanted to get a picture of it or with it but that high bid is a head scratcher for me. According to the sticker that the transport company put on it, it's headed to Harrison, New York ^

I remember when the notice came out about auctioning it; the notice never said anything about its status as a replica, almost like they intimated it was an actual movie car.
OK. Turns out, they did say this was a replica but it was ordered by one of the actresses in the movie which might be why it sold for that much. I suppose Truckster prices might go up as of late but not that much.
I must say I was surprised when I saw the price it went for. I agree with estatewagon, I wouldn't have been surprised to see it go in the mid 20's to mid 30's. But 91K? That was unexpected. We know that this car has a certain appeal to it. My buddy sent me a text message that included the above video. He's a car guy, but he is not into wagons. However, he is also a Pop-culture fan and I think it's folks like this ie car fan/pop-culture fan, probly grew up in the 70's/80's who were in the room when this came up on the block. The alcohol fueled sense of nostalgia likely drove the price up.
I know it’s supposed to be like the car in the movie but for 100,000 I’d like all 4 wheel covers, the “honky lips” removed, and aunt Edna underground and not on top of the car
According to the video the "Honky Lips" is a removable decal and all of the wheel covers are included with the sale. (they are in the back of the car with some other odds and ends)
I know that Beverly D'Angelo (Ellen) had signed the dashboard but didn't know she had owned it. It was built by a company that specializes in movie car replicas. They also built the red pick-up that's next to the Truckster in the picture above. That's a 'Twister" replica that sold for $10,000, nothing special there. And that same company had built the Burt Reynolds replicas that sold for big bucks at the Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson last fall right after he had passed away.
