I tried but I can't watch crap like that. The program had some great points that removed all the crap imports from the streets but things like this is just an injustice. Sooooooooooo stupid!

Yes....it's been on here before, WB4, but, it's always good to be reminded of how stupid our Government is. That was a perfectly beautiful Cappy that the poor mechanic was ordered to destroy. What a damn shame. The owner that traded it should be shot, too!

The worst of it all is that in the long run, the entire program is detrimental to the environment, as well! The best thing for the environment is to get the maximum use out of a durable good. Reuse is always better than recycle, as it involves no energy investment at all.

The cash for clunkers was designed to get older polluting cars off the road correct?

The majority of the "bad" cars are still on the road because the owners CANT AFFORD a new car!

The traded cars at the dealers on new cars did it for the tax credit and the environment guilt.

these cars should have been "sorted" and resold to get the real polluters off the road.

like cars under 100k or rust free cars.

To get the real clunkers off the road.

    But what do i know.

They had this in Germany, a couple years ago. They make the taypayer subsidize new vehicle sales. The subsidies come partly from the 19% sales tax payed by poor people on necessities like soap and diapers. This is a banana republic run by industry. And they sey the Nazis were bad

I guess that is why I have a couple INOP cars I just can't see them go for junk when they still have lots to offer. I just got my new monthly Hagerty insurance magazine in the mail and it has a article about car hoarders with poorly stored collector cars etc. not that I have any sought after collector cars but I would rather see someone with them stashed in a barn , shed or yard than see what they did with cash for clunkers.

My family owned a GM dealership at the time of the Cash For Clunkers program. Everyone that worked in or owned a dealership at the time knew it was not only a failed program, but a very stupid idea.

Let those involved warn everyone else, people can be convinced of anything given enough media coverage, skewing of statistics and stirring up of enough of a social movement.

I noticed that almost over nite, the lower class worker driving there total POS could not aford to take advantage of any deal perioud, yet good safe road worthy older cars fell victom because better off folks they could aford the BS deal..... because in a private sale they would be luckey to get half of the clunker kick back

As I understand it, they could take parts for 90 days (with exception of engine and transmission), then they had to be crushed.

It was a really dumb idea. Most junk yards didn't have the space to store 'em while taking parts for 90 days, so most were crushed almost immediately (see video)

I see cars at the boneyard all the time with "C4C " marked in crayon on the windows or spray painted on the sides.
I don't know where they're coming from because the cars are only there two or three months. The dealers have Cash for Clunkers vehicles stored and junk them when they get around to it is all I can figure.
You can take all the parts you want off them.
