    or 70s, or 60s,...you pick.

    Picked this up today...
even found a Pacer wagon too for sale today
(may be getting it too this week)
but this seemed more cool and a better conversation
    starter :)

Looks like it belongs in the starfighter service bay of a Star Wars movie...but floating around without wheels.
    What IS that?

It seems to me that something like this was in Popular Mechanics in the 70's. Plans for a home built.

    thats exactly what it is..
you can still buy the plans online to build your own
out of fiberglass and use a VW Bus chassis for a donar
car. It all started I think in the early 80s.

actually a better swap is the 3.3L subaru out of
the Svx  I have an Svx too.
Looking for a donar car now for the van-tastic moon
mobile. The interior is pretty sparce, just a clean slate
for anything goes type of thing.
Id start by making a crazy fiberglass dash for it cockpit
    like and go from there..
I can only imagine what sort of audio/ visual system could
be implemented in this thing too.
For now Im just parking it out in front of my shop for
    attention getting purposes. :)

In the article they show a cool looking grille configuration. Wonder what that is?? I'm thinking it would be a cool thing to have but, knowing me, I would want to build one myself. Trouble with THAT is....it looks like working with that foam and fiberglass would be a real problem. At least, for me.

I wonder if the material list may have been updated for today. Seems like there would be materials much better suited today that would be easier to work with. I really like the looks of the one in the article. And...hey...I don't even camp!:biglaugh:

you basically could make the frame from wood or
    metal..
    and then fiberglass..
granted, some insulation ideas may have gotten better
not sure much else would be too different.
Now as for the interior, motor, suspension, dash
and door struts... yeah, I can see improvements all
    over the place !! haha.
