James Coburn drives a loaded new 1972 Kingswood Estate. Featured prominently throughout the movie. Even jumps a drawbridge at one point.

We've already got a collective thread devoted to wagons in films?

"A 15 year old child was butchered! And she was pretty and sweet and from a good family" I'm surprised he was so PC and left out the fact that she was a white girl

Well, it was 1972. I can say that the film is quite dated. I had never even heard of it until I ran across it on Turner Classic Movies yesterday. James Coburn plays a doctor who chain smokes. In the commentary at the end, they said that director Blake Edwards (husband of Julie Andrews) was so unhappy with how the studio edited the final cut that he tried (unsuccessfully) to have his name taken off the picture.

That poor beautiful new wagon... then run it in the ocean, as if they didn't rust bad enough already, I cringed. lol.

Seemed like an unusual car choice for a movie character who was a single middle-aged doctor. Still, glad I ran across the picture and could share it. What was an everyday mom carpool wagon in 1972 (albeit this one a high option one that most families could not afford) is a highly desired collectible today - times do change.

Could be, Coburn played a divorced doctor who got the car, while the ex got the house. But, then again, why would a doctor settle for a Chevy when he could afford a Buick or Olds, in the first place?

Interesting indeed. At least he got the top of the line model with power locks. :D It also appears to have power gate... bumper guards (front & rear), deluxe hubcaps, big block, luggage rack and appears to also have the 3rd seat. Probably also has tilt wheel and power windows. :)

I hope, they drove an unloaded six-banger or smallblock double into the water and not that one.
