Been working on Mabel, getting her ready for a safety inspection. Thanks to Norm braving a rainstorm, an hour on the bus, and a surly host, the new gas tank is up and in place. Have to cobble up a sending unit tomorrow. Replaced: rear taillight lf brake hose gearshift selector tire/wheels checked wheel bearings spliced patch into hatch weatherstripping fixed e-brake light connection I bought a new rack and pinion because the shop I took it to said it was leaking. I cannot see a leak and think they were trying to soak me for some unnecessary R&R. So I think I'll tell 'em it was probably just a dry seal from sitting for so long and I put some conditioner in there and now it's OK! Or I could point out the the real source of the oil was a leaky crankshaft seal. Fixed, again with a bit of running and some oil conditioner.
Thanks. I got the sending unit together, now just have to put it in, button things up and hopefully we'll be back on the road this week.
Me too! EH? Somehow I lost or misplaced the engine side mount for the I6 shifter. I had the restored the V8 setup, derusted and painted, and then tore the workshop apart looking for the right one. Andy came to the rescue. I may have given it to him when he took the V8 for rebuilding, so if I did, its at his cottage. Anyway, he let me score it from poor old Monty the Red, not Mabel the dirty blonde! Thanks Andy, I should get mine running tomorrow or Thursday.
I could have sworn you mentioned Friday the 18th as a drop dead date for the car running. You appear to be ahead of schedule. :You_Rock_Emoticon: We must have pictures of the car on the street! I do feel bad for Monty tho.
Can't wait that long. I was a contruction project manager years ago, and I know how easy it is to miss one key material and blow the budget. We qualified for a community grant and the requisitions have to be in by the 15th. I have to get the car tuned, running, insured, and unload my trailer of all the Donor car body metal. New sidewalks, patio, siding, awnings, front door, landscaping, driveway. So little time and too much fun!
I did, but St. Peter keeps on dribbling. I came back from Andy's yesterday and my wife said I looked like a mexican wetback, and she's mexican! Today started off with rain, and by the time I got to Andy's for the shifter bracket, it was all dry again, and sunny, and now we get more tonight or maybe in the next hour. Pete's got to drink less Bud, man. That's all there is too it, or I'll go out in my rain-overalls (yeah I've got some)!
