Hello, just to show you, that an old Station is still valid to do actual jobs. This September the car had to - pull our trailer - drive a 25th aniversary wedding couple - show a young girl how nice old Fords are to drive - show young people the space an old station has to offer - give a home to Flat Eric The open hood pic is for show, only - no problems here Enjoy the pics from Germany Michael
Nice rig, Michael. That 'camper' or 'caravan' (what we would call a travel trailer over here) appears to be in our 'lightweight' class - 7' wide (vs. 8' wide for the 'standard-sized'). Even so, that size trailer over here would undoubtedly have dual tandem axles to support it. Maybe things are built over there with light weight being a priority. Most everybody over here in the U.S. tows with a big pick-up, although a body-on-frame wagon can certainly handle it.
Hello Krash Kadillak, I know there are some differences in trailers USA vs. Europe. This trailer is, from the size, located in the longer versions and is available with double axle, too. But we didn't need so much load-upgrading (1800 kg), so this is a 1600 kg max. weight version - the last size with one axle. On some camping parks you'll pay a higher rate with double axle. And yes, it's not trailer parked for a longer time, it's for travelling, only. And in opposite to your country, it's a hard job to drive a 13 meter car-trailer-combo through Europe's small roads ... Michael
Hi Michael, those are some cool pics. Bet that big Ford draws some looks there in Germany. We have plenty of Mercs and BMW's over here, good to see an old soldier like that Ranch Wagon representing Detroit(USA) over there. Regards.
Yes - it's a rare car in general, but in Germany I expect there are a maximum of 5 cars of the 67's Station Wagons on the road, only. Maybe some 5-10 more, not running, hidden in some yards can be found. You can bet driving through Germany for a whole week, you won't see any american (old) station wagon. Believe it or not - some people are putting a Volkswagen Passat in front of this size of trailer Next hill on the Autobahn - I'll pass them - you can't beat cubic inches
With your Ford, you won't have the problem this guy did...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAfZ1N56qjY
Thanks for the story and pictures. Yes, here the single axle RV that length does seem out of place. Without sway control we sometimes have problems keeping the RV straight.
