With the demise of the Ford Panther platform (Lincoln Town Car, etc...), the professional car firms needed to retool. Ford took the step to offer a stretched Lincoln MKT chassis to build off of. The MKT is on the same platform as the Ford Flex.

Still waiting to see one myself in the flesh.....

I caught a quick glance, as I was getting out of my car, a pink Caddy towing an Airstream...cool.

If the Eagle were shown in black, I think it would be more appealing.
Since I'm going to the UF medical school when I check out, my last ride will probably be in a beat up old Ford van.
I'll feel (or not feel) right at home. ;)

I liked some of the 2010/11 model coaches but some of the styles I see now are disappointing, IMO. Like so many there will be nothing like the art and beauty of the classics. Sorry, Lincoln. I love your old styles but you new stuff just doesn't do it for me.

OK, I need to amend my will to include instructions not to transport my remains in one of those abominations. Leave me a little dignity. At least have enough compassion to toss me in the back of a rusted out Yugo instead. :smash:

I was just thinking that it's curious what the funeral industry perceives as 'dignified'. These things are ugly. Frankly, IMO a black minivan, such as a Honda Odyessy or Chrysler T&C would make a perfect hearse........ Would cost much less than these monsters, too.

Since that THING is based on the same platform as the Flex, I really wonder about structural integrity. One of my coworkers had a Flex. Driving down the road, he saw a Flex split in to. The front literally pulled apart from the rear. The for sale sign landed on his the next day. I just don't trust modern unibodies made out of metal as thick as tin foil.

I've seen pics of this happening, always from a major collision. Factory weld engineering is so sophisticated, that I doubt what your coworker saw was the result of a factory problem. The more logical reasoning would be that it was a wreck earlier that had been 'clipped' by some incompetent shop.
