Since my vehicle title is still not here and I can't drive her, I've been resigned to fixing some of the small issues with my 1988 Colony park. One such item was the tailgate check strap cable. Mine was rusted and broke in two. I took the remnants to the local salvage yard and looked though the cable they had on their rack. I found the HELP! 38530 had the right length and the right ends. It works perfectly. I thought this might help someone, as I could not find a source for this cable. Here's a picture:
