Follow up: there is a dent (crease) along the lower part of the passenger side rear door just ahead of the wheel opening. Too bad. Now I'm really not so sure about the $17,000 asking price. Why doesn't he get that fixed before selling? His ad does not mention it.

You can see it best in this photo.

For that kind of dough, I'd expect it to be perfect. But someone else with deeper pockets than I have might think it's priced just right.

    Interesting ad.......
I noticed in the photo gallery, the photographer conveniently avoided taking a close-up of the right rear door, although it's clear as day in a couple of the long shots. It's really too bad it's there, like a giant zit on a beauty queen. I don't think it's the type of dent that will pop out from a Paintless Dent Repair guy - creases like that need to be worked. And of course, that means re-doing the Di-Noc.

As to price, I'm thinking the dealer is asking for a 100% mark-up. Probably got for around $6,700... maybe a bit more. I'd bet he'd take $10-12k for it.

Certainly should be looked at first, though.

The price guides say that a better-than-showroom condition '75 Custom Cruiser is worth $8,000.

A beautiful wagon and beautiful colors. But what else don't we know besides the fairly large crease that was kept quiet? Possible $8,000 may come closer.
Also how in the world can a used car be better than showroom condition ?

    The dealer ad says,
    Quote....
Not only does this car wear nearly all of its original Spectre Blue paint

So what does "nearly all" mean and why?,

Beautiful wagon though, baced on pics and BTW I agree with KK on that door crease. The metal has been stretched, your not going to just "pop" that out but I'll take this wagon if anything more than stickering some fake teeth on the inside of the clam window and tailgate....just think of the brain WTF games I could have with the dogs as it closes slowly once they get in the back and they se the teeth!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima:rofl2::evilsmile:

A car can be restored to better-than-new condition if components that were better than what was in the car when it left the factory are used in the restoration. It also means a car that is restored to showroom condition but then is never driven. Rather, the car is trailered everywhere it goes, and when not on display, it is stored in a climate-controlled facility. In short, it has ceased to be a car and has become more a work of art.

At least, the above is how the Old Cars Price Guide describes their top condition category.

Yes I know. And many show cars do appear far nicer than an original show room car. Just looking at the flawless non orange peel paint will show that.
Which makes me wonder how such a car can be a restored original when it is not factory original anymore.

    Issues I noticed from pictures

    1)Creased Right Door
2)Both sides of the front bumper have been rubbed against something damaging the rubber strip
    3)Headlights are mismatched
4)Headliner has the resemblance of having been moldy(see the white residue)
5)Front carpet has been shampooed to try and "clean" it. But you can still see the residue from years of use.

I would bet closer inspection would show more issues. This car is nice, but not $8,000 nice. It is a $7,000 car in my eyes

Interesting. It has apparently doubled in value in the intervening months.

It wouldn't bother me that the carpet had been shampooed but that it might still show some wear. That's to be expected. The headlight issue is an easy, cheap fix. The bumper thing I'd want to know more about, but it doesn't look serious.

I would be concerned about possible mold in the headliner.

The door is by far the worst.

seems odd no driver door panel pics

Not sure I believe the milage

and that moldy headliner is not cool looks like my caddy after I wiped the worst of it off, very possible the carpet was too and that would explain the shampoo job

$2500-5000 tops, the mold kills it
