I really dig this car. It needs a set of wheels and tires.

Nice Looking Astre Safari, Fairly well equipped for the type. The options I see other than the exterior woodgrain and sport mirrors are the delux interior (that got you the same year Firebird base seats and custom cushion steering wheel, and the nicer vinyl door panels instead of the hard plastic ones) PS & PB's, Automatic, Front and rear bumper rub strips, and maybe a tilt column.

I would be leary about driving it with the original non-vented Vega front disc's though. They don't stop that well with the much lighter 2.3 Vega I-4. A 4.3 V-6 is a heavy engine by comparison. I wonder what they did for an Oil pan, I know the stock 4.3 pan will not clear the Vega/Astre Front K-member or the steering center link.

Nice looking car, but Modified Vega's don't usually bring that kinda of $$$ and they are not asking an outrageous price.

It's actually a V8. They must be considering it a 265 V8 by their litre configuration.

    Says it's a 4.3 V8......................?
In '75, you could get a 4.3 liter V8 in a Chevy Monza. Must be that one.

265 and 267's were made in the 70's early 80's. Monza's generally had the 267. Both rated as 4.3

I personally never had a prob with my stock Vega brake parts working as needed. With 4-6 or V8's. And I don't remember any of them having power brakes

I must get more sleep, I missed the V-8 reference in the Ad, so it must be a 75 or 76 262 V-8.

As for my Vega Brake comment, Yes The stock Vega Brakes to work OK on the lighter 4 cylinder models, but by adding the Larger Monza Vented front disc's and the wider 76 and later rear drums (this car should have the wider rear drums) They stop much better and shorter, and more consistently. More like a modern car. Vega brakes were actually not bad for 1971 when they came out. But by todays standards they are lacking like most old cars.
I just consider it an cheap and easy upgrade. I don't think you can really have to much braking. My 77 Astre is getting Corvette C3 front disc's, and S-10 PU front disc's on the rear axle. If it goes like stink I like to be able to stop it just as fast!

I really like these cars. Extra bonus that it already has a v8. Only fault I can find is it is missing a pedal.

Actually unless your going to beef it up structurally your better off with an automatic, AND a posi rear. That's the way I set up my stock configured Vega's. Even with the auto and a non posi they have a problem in the lower trailing arm. The newer ones with the torque bar rear to trans take it WAY better.

Thought about it yesterday and not 265 was 262 lol. As for braking as I said I had Vega's in STOCK configuration no power brakes and 300 CI aluminum top ended Buick V-8's that would do 130+ MPH in the blink of an eye. (have no idea on actual top end as the GT speedo only went to 130)
And I remember no issues with braking. altho I do not live in an area with a lot of hills. That's one of the reasons I really liked Vega's as they were buildable for FAST fairly cheap back in the day. And I like to be able to stop myself lol
