    That's a real shame. Don't know if the news article mentions the cause, but I'd guess an electrical short.

    Yes, that's what the article says: owner himself mentioned it as a probable cause.

    The reason you never trust old wiring and always install a battery disconnect and turn off the juice when you park old cars, it's way better to be safe than sorry. Opening the hood and twisting a a knob isn't hard and the switches only take about five minutes to install on the negative battery post. I don't even leave my GTO sit parked at a cruise-in with the power on, never in the garage.

    It looks like the body is still pretty solid, so this one could be saved with a donor interior. Still, what a shame!

    Man, there are a LOT of parts on that one that could keep a bunch of others looking great! I still say that with care, and done before the rust gets too great a hold on it, that body shell is still very solid. Add the interior out of one of the others we've seen where the body is toasted, and you could save this old girl.
