    Hello there,
after four years of "driving" my 78 caprice, i decide in october to spend some time in my garage this winter....
I bought this car 5 years ago from a "good" friend ( we dont talk anymore, but its another story). My wife and i were driven around , visit some meetings, and having a lot of fun with it.
But during that time there came some problems, the engine has backfires, start to burning a lot of oil and looses power....
The body shows how old he is, that means rust, rust, rust !! There was no chance do drive in the rain with dry feets and the heater doesnt work. My wife was very happy
And on a october morning, the battery was dead, i slam the door and a big part of the paint from the drivers door laying on the ground.
So, it was the time to do some work...

First of all : HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! :):):):)

    Hello there.
@ jrwscout : My plans are : Rebuild the whole engine !! New Crankshaft, new Pistons and rings, new camshaft, new water - oilpump, new valves, ...
    everything !!!
The brakes and the suspension was rebuild two years ago, so there are ok. The body needs a lot of work. The doors are very "crunchy". But i think its been normaly for the caprice. A lot of welding, because no one has doors for 77-79 Wagons. Then the roof has problems with rust. But for a 35 year old car its been in good condition..
The interior needs some cleaning and some work. New headliner, new door panels, new carpet, new dashboardtop and some little things. So, a lot to do, but its winter !!!!
@ fannie : Yeah, my wife and me are really in love with the caprice. Were always saying : Take our money, our souls, whatever...But never our wagon`s :):)
And i think theye getting rare ?!?! Thank you...
@ mashaffer : Old cars, old houses, a lot of work.. but its build in 1792 and still there !!!

Hope to drive it to big power meet in sweden this summer !!!!

But my wife and i moved into a new house and have to buy some new stuff for this .... What should i say, close the garage for this summer:mad::mad::mad:

In september put in the rebulid 350 cui engine with transmission, bulid a new exhaust and fired it up !!!! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima:2_thumbs_up_-_anima Love this sound.....
I spend a lot of weekends till now and i think in 3-4 weeks i am thru with it and the car will be ready for next season......

Good news is always worth waiting for! You've done a lot of work on the wagon and it's looking great. I'm sure you are going to miss that little barn. But we also are moving so know there are many reasons why.
Good luck and happy holidays whatever you may celebrate. :drink::cheers:
