Hey guys and gals. I'm David. I just found your site yesterday. I am a proud wagon owner. I don't know why I love wagons. My family never had one. Believe it or not, my first wagon was a 1961 Plymouth Fury Sport Suburban. Talk about wierd looking! I recently just purchased a 1980 Chrysler LeBaron wagon. It is one of 1,887 made without the fake wood siding. I still want one with the fake wood. The search continues. LOL. I also had a new PT Cruiser woody wagon as my daily driver. I have a 1980 LeBaron 5th Avenue limited edition too. One of 654 made. Yeah, I am a Chrysler guy. So was my Grandfather. He bought a brand new 1973 Chrysler Town & Country wagon. I was only 6 years old then, but I remember that wagon. Unfortunately he traded it in on a new 1974 Newyorker Brougham coupe. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of y'all at a future wagon event. thanks Stefan! 1980 was the first year Chrysler offered a base model wagon without the wood trim. You could still order the fancier Town & Country package too. The 1978 & 1979 Town & Country wagons came with the fake wood. Although a few people took off the wood after it faded and the thick plastic moldings warp and buckle. 1981 was the last year these wagons were offered. And very few at that.
Thanks Clark! I like your Crownvic wagon! Mercury may have claimed their car was a Lincoln wagon, but the Crown vics were darn close too!
Nice collection!!! that 61 is the beesnees!!...if i wasnt a hellbent Ford guy...id own a Dodge or 6!! Welcome to the board!
David, he's serious! Nice Mopars. I was a serious mopar fan for years, until a new car dealer wouldn't get off his touche and show me a wagon I was ready (cash in hand!) to buy. Even had a newly bodyshop painted (not rollered) Plymouth Cricket to trade. I walked across to the Ford dealership and bought me a new 1981 Fairmont Wagon. Never looked back. But gawd, they still make me drool!
David, why is it called the Nutmeg State? In case I get on the Millionaire show, or our Canadian version of "Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?" My wife makes a Mexican concoction with Dark Rum (Cuban Bacardi), Molasses and Nutmeg called Rompope (she leaves the eggs out). We use it when we make Christmas fruit cake. Yummy! But you drink it with a stick of cinnamon as a swizel stick. um-good. Warms you up down your toenails! We get our cinnamon from Mexico and nutmeg from Jamaica - International food store downtown. Nummers, man, just plain old nummers.
