Hello all, I'm new to the site but not new to the love of Station Wagons. When I was a kid , my parents had a 1965 Ford Country Sedan, a 1973 Country Squire and when I was in high school I bought a 1978 Colony Park that was in a crash and I put a new nose on her and she looked liked new. I also had a 1973 Chevy Impala Wagon, blew the engine and put in a new one out of a beat up Monty Carlo.

Currently, I own a 1991 Volvo 240 wagon, that I've owned since May 1996. It currently has 227,000 miles and all orginal.

I just bought a couple weeks ago an all orginial one owner, 86,000 mile 1976 Country Squire, which really has the wagon blood pumping.

I'm looking forward to meeting other wagon owners and perhaps attend some shows with either or both of the wagons.

Welcome to the sandbox saltbox. :D A couple of excellent choices there. I am a big fan of both classic Fomoco and RWD Volvos.

Thanks for the welcome, the Volvo used to be our daily driver when my kids were small. My son drove it to high school and his first year of college. He just bought a 1997 Volvo V90 so, the 240 Wagon is going back to weekend use. I just refinshed the turbo wheels and had them installed this past summer. The old Volvo's are amazing, they keep running and running.

The Country Squire brings me back to my own childhood. I was always a fan of the big Ford Wagons and this car is so well preserved. It's 100% original and still has the original exaust system with the built in "grate" in the tail pipe. The tail pipe has a couple of small holes, but I want to preserve it and will see if I can have the holes welded shut.

I'm most likely going to keep the Country Squire 100% original. It has a few small scratch's which I am considering not touching them, as long as they are not rusting.

Welcome to the nuthouse we call home!! Love the big Ford wagons, but the one that caught my eye is that Volvo 240. Ma has the twin to that, and I just found out that I may soon inherit Arthur, as the old boy is known.

I like your selection of wagons and your plans for them.....USA vs. Sweden, kinda like the Olympics! Will be interesting to see how each wagon does. So the Volvo is a weekend car, is the Ford a daily driver?

Hey MikeT, your soon to be inherited 240 looks beautiful. My 240 had the same wheels up to this past summer when I put the Turbo wheels on her. Is Arther a 1989? How many miles? The old 240's can run 300,000 to 400,000 miles or more pretty easily when well maintained. Our 240 is called "New Blue". Long story. I bought her back in May 1996, I've never owned a car so long, but those old 240's grow on you.

Motomike, the 76 Country Squire is going into winter storage this weekend and will be used also on nice weather weekends, car shows and a family vacation next summer. I need to find a surf board to put on the roof rack... The Squire is really a toy for me, brings me back to my childhood, when my parents had a 73 Country Squire.

And good idea on the USA vs Sweden, considering my ancestrial background came from Sweden, there is a connection there. Also, considering, I've owned both American Cars and Swedish cars, it's almost impossible to beat the old Swedish 240's. They are build so well. Everything on those cars is overbuilt. Amazing a 4 cylender can run for hundreds of thousands of miles pretty much trouble free.

Indeed! Those old B whatever number(?) engines have always impressed me, there's something to "sweedish steel." What engine is in the CS?
