Listed locally on our Craigslist... 1977 Mercury Cougar Villager wagon with 20K actual miles. Obviously has been setting out in the weather for many years. :(

She/he wants $2000 for it, not even sure how the engine is... who knows. (also I guess if the right dodo came along like me... who gave $$$$ for a wagon that 1/2 runs ) I was interested in it, but Lord knows I have too many issues with my wagon now.

Here are some pics... kinda sad, but it can be saved by someone

    lol... yeah, I noticed that.

Well, hopefully it can find a good home. Yeah, the body looks solid... mainly that rust you see is from the rain/weather. Its probably never even seen a salty road. ;)

Its so tempting because its so local... probably about 20 miles away from me if that. Maybe if I didnt already have my 72 that I am dealing with, it might have worked out.

I would like to see pics of the under side. It does not look lik it has been sitting where it is now all this time. It looks like it has sat under some trees and possibly in grass. Which will cause some rust itself.

A nice Saturday with a whole lot of elbow grease and some Maquire's would do wonders for this wagon. You're right, though, 72 Kingswood, there is some rust on there. Even being outside for so long, it sure does seem pretty bad off for only 20,000 miles. I'd like to see the interior and the carpets and all to figure out if it's been around once.

A quick look at the pedals and floor pan would give a good idea if its 20K or 120K.

I dunno, either way, I am starting to get a soft spot for the old girl. I wish it was not so far away or was at least capable of driving home to Western NY. I would seriously consider coming up with the money to pick her up and give her a fresh lease on life.

    77 cougar wagon

Thanks everyone for your input. I am new at this. I acquired this wagon because it was left to my mother and she passed in Aug. so I'm just trying to find it a home. I will be glad to give vin# to anyone to verify the mileage on this vehicle. I don't believe it has even been tagged since mid 80's cause my grandfather never drove it after he moved to Tenn. It was bought new in Atlanta in 1977. I am a single mom and can't afford to keep paying storage on it.

Thats true, but there have been some instances where I know that a car had low actual miles (never rolled) and the numbers were slightly misaligned.... but who knows.

Thats usually the irony... I am only 20 miles from where this car is... there have been cars in NY I would have liked to have owned, but too far away. Thats how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

That wagon looks like it might be easy to get going again. Have you thought about fixing it to get it running again and drive it?

Well, those Cougars wagons are far and few between. But whoever buys it will need to sink some bucks into it. That rust isn't going to buff out. All the wood panels need to be stripped off and replaced. That's not cheap either. Plus 4 new tires and whatever mechanical work it needs. You know right off the bat it will need new belts, hoses, coolant, battery, maybe even flush out the stale gas in the tank. After 20 years of sitting it might need a new radiator, brake lines, fuel line and exhaust work.

And you haven't even gotten to the inside yet. Hopefully the field mice haven't gotten into it.
