Hello! After reading: How to Disassemble Inspect and Repair the Rear Window Regulator. I'm still a little confused. I've searched high and low, and I must be missing something obvious. I have a 1964 Ford Fairlane Ranch Wagon with the power tailgate. The window is in the closed position; all the way up. The switch on the dash causes the motor to make sound when pushed in one direction. In the other direction nothing. The key in the tailgate itself has the same behavior in that it causes the motor to make sound in one direction, and nothing in the other. Either way the window doesn't move. I've removed the outer trim on the window. I've removed the interior panel. I can see the regulator. Everything I find relates to the tailgate opened for service. I read in a '64 service manual for a Falcon that: "If the tailgate window regulator mechanism should fail with the widow in a partially closed or closed position, the tailgate can be opened by removing the window side and upper runs (Fig. 32)" -Note a '64 Falcon is pictured below What do I do next?
You should have three wires at motor Black ground , red (power up) , yellow (power down ) .Try applying 12 volts to yellow wire.
