I'm Remco live in the netherlands and refuse to drive european or rice cars.
As for the wagon I have a 1997 mercury sable now, way to new and to small.
    And its only a V6.

I'm now looking in the US for a mid 80's luxury wagon.
I like the 1974-1978 mercury colony park.

Some of my other detroit steel are a 79 chevy C30 dubbelcab dually, That is my daily driver @ this moment and we also use this to tow my airstream.

74 pontiac grand prix needs a little work but is my wife's toy.

57 imperial is in restauration now this was my daily driver for 6 years.

Hope to learn and read o lot about the luxury wagons from the 70's here

    Remco

Welcome to the forums Remco. The '74 to '78 Merc colony parks are awesome wagons, I would like one myself.

I have a '78 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon now in green, had a '77 CS wagon in red , '76 LTD Brougham in cream, '78 Ford Thunderbird in silver/blue, '75 Lincoln Mark 4 in silver, and two '79 Lincoln Town Cars (one in all grey and the other all black).

    Hi Remco,

Glad you have joined the group! :Welcome:

You already have some fun vehicles...the thought of a dually rolling around in the Netherlands is a mind-blower! :You_Rock_Emoticon:

Also, pics of the Airstream are a must!!! I love those things.

One of the reasons I revisited my love of wagons is because of my love of Airstreams.
Most of those Airstream guys suggest that the best tow vehicle is a big soft-riding sedan or wagon of the sixties or seventies...they are easier on the monocoque construction. Since I just got rid of my truck in February, I started looking for a good choice for a tow vehicle.
Well, now I am so into my station wagon project, that getting an Airstream is totally on the back burner. Someday, but not now.

I know you will find a luxury wagon to add to your nice collection. (y)

Here's a pic of the dually with the airstream.
I'm not sure if I want to tow the 32 ft airstream ( 8300 pounds )
With a wagon, even a mercury colony park seems a but to small and light for that.

    WOW!

That is a force to be reckoned with! :taz:

Yes, I would, most certainly, be hesitant to attempt to pull that GIANT AIRSTREAM with anything less than your bruisin' dually! :character0182:

I think those guys that suggest towing with a sedan or wagon must be thinking of one of the much smaller Airstreams...yours is a palace!

    :bowdown:GIANT AIRSTREAM...I am not worthy!
