Wanted to say "hello" and let everyone know that I do not have a wagon - yet. My search for a '95-96 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon began about mid-June of this year. I have looked at a remarkable number of wagons for sale online, but only a couple have been worth seeing in person. Looking for a clean (no rust), low mileage (under 75K) RMW with the trailer tow package and limited-slip. Hope to find one in the western states, but am open to other possibilities. Great site! I'm suprised that I did not stumble on it sooner - must be the ImpalaSSforum that has kept me busy for so long... Looking forward to learning more wagon stuff! Randy Moon Long Beach, CA
Thanks for the welcome! And yes, the '94-96 Buick Roadmaster Wagon has the LT1 - 260 HP and 330 lb/ft of torque! Can't wait to find the "right" one. Mine will have the tow package (unused, of course), 2.93 rear and limited-slip. It will be great fun to suprise the unsuspecting Camaro, Mustang, etc!
I found my FIRST wagon! Last Friday, I saw a new ad at autotrader.com for a 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon with 55K miles. After four+ months of searching, I knew instantly that this was going to be the one! My first phone call went into voice mail, so I left a message. About an hour or so later I gave a call back and spoke to the seller. Everything sounded OK, so I gave him my list of eight (8) "must-haves" that were in code on the tailgate jamb. He called me back to say that they were all there. Yippee! They include: 1) heavy-duty suspension 2) 2.93 rear axle 3) limited-slip rear 4) trans cooler 5) oil cooler 6) load-leveling rear suspension 7) trailer tow package and 8) "Concert Sound II Stereo". Now I wanted to see the car that night, but it was 85 miles away and we'd have to deal with Friday afternoon Los Angeles and San Diego traffic - not easy to do, especially with a 20-month-old! The seller was working until after 4 PM that day anyway, so I suggested Saturday. He was busy all that day, so we agreed to Sunday at 10 AM. Needless to say, it was a long weekend! The hours crawled by and my sleep suffered as well. Sunday finally came around and we got on the road by 8:45 AM. Took a little over an hour to get to my brother-in-laws (where I dropped off the wife and wee-one) then finished the journey solo. The seller and I met in a shopping center parking lot. I knew for sure the minute I saw the wagon that it was coming home with me! Still checked all around and took it for a test drive. Wrote up a bill of sale, handed over the cash, took the title and went back to pick-up the family in our Volvo. Came back to the wagon, showed the wife, had some lunch, got some gas and drove the wagon home. The missus followed to make sure everything looked OK - which it did. Things went smooth on the trip home and I'm sure I smiled most of the way! After getting home, the three of us played in the "way back" and enjoyed every minute of it! My wife even "likes" the car - she thought she would remain indifferent! Some additional info about the "new" ride: Light Adriatic Blue with a blue leather interior. I like that it has dual power seats, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and full-size spare tire! This weekend will be spent detailing the interior, as well as under the hood. And now the FUN begins!
Its amazing that it was exactly what you were looking for. Do you have any ideas on how many were made with those options?
