Hello fellow wagon fans from cold too much snow CT. My love of wagons goes back to my parents first 1965 Ford Country Sedan when I was a toddler, and then the real wagon love of my youth was our 1973 Ford Country Squire, it was a unique light green like a pistachio green with a dark green interior. Wagons after that included a 78 Colony Park I rescued from the junk yard when in high-school and rebuilt. Then I went to college, had no money and a VW Rabbit, it was a good reliable car and the hatchback was wagonish. My next wagon as a working adult was a 1987 VW Quantum Synco, and then a 1991 Volvo 240, which I still have. I also currently own a 2007 Volvo Cross Country and my toy car, the car I give the most special attention to is my 1976 Ford Country Squire I picked up around 6 years ago. The Country Squire was a one owner car, well maintained survivor, all 100% original. Has some minor patina, I've since rebuilt the carburetor, replaced all of the rubber on the break lines, had the break lines cleaned out and replaced anything that was worn. I figured the breaks are one of the most important components on an almost 3 ton car. I also had any rubber gas lines replaced at the same time. I recently replaced the original exhaust, it was getting full of holes and put on a duel exhaust with more throaty mufflers. The guy who built the exhaust system found the original bend specs for the car buried deep in his files, so my exhaust is built to factory spec. Last summer I replaced the heater core with a NOS core. This year the plan is for new tires, the current ones, the best I can estimate from the date codes were made around 1995. They have plenty of tread but I can feel they are getting hard and losing pliability and could be dangerous. Also on the list for this summer are new shocks. Hopefully this summer the car shows will come back and I look forward to spending a day waxing and detailing the car for summer.

I was wondering is there anyone from Connecticut or New England? I would be nice to meet like minded people simile to the Mustang or VW Clubs.

Welcome. Love your ‘76. Loved the ‘75-‘76 Squires especially due to the Landau hood ornament, and the chrome hood strip, plus the Landau emblem on the tailgate. Great car! PS make sure to add it to the American Wagon garage page so I can give it a 5 - best rating!

I always wondered why the car had the unique hood emblem as well as on the tailgate ant not the LTD emblam as used in other years. I also did not know it was a Landau emblem.

By ‘77 the LTD hood ornament was used universally for all LTD models and the tailgate emblems were dropped on both big Ford’s and Mercs. I think they still used the Landau emblem on the sail panel for the 4 door Landaus, the coupe had the edged glass LTD emblem vs the full emblem in the middle rear window. Boy TMI, I know, but there you have it. Lol

    Welcome aboard Wagonman73!
Wow! Your '76 Country Squire is in immaculate condition . Gorgeous and the perfect color (colonial white?) to really make the panelling "pop".

    You'll really enjoy this group.

I love that Marquis wagon. Is it white or dove grey?
