i found this forum from a link in a post from another forum i belong to. I have been a station wagon fan for a long time. it all started with my 1977 Pinto wagon that i bought for cheap when i was 16 and went about customizing it to fit my teenage needs (stereo, after market rims, and a small block for 302). After that wagon i aquired a mint condition 1977 Olds wagon that was fully loaded (lady in a tahoe ran over the hood and totaled that car out). About a year ago I got me a 1983 AMC Eagle wagon in a trade and have been loving it and working on it ever since. So far i have upgraded the valve cover, carb, distributor, lowered it 2 inches front and rear, added aftermarket rims, and this comming weekend i will be installing a new transfercase to make it a true AWD wagon. Since tinkering with that wagon I have been on a mad AMC kick adding a 1983 Eagle SX/4 and a 1981 Eagle kammback to my collection. Future plains of mine are to find another Eagle wagon to build into a winter driving machine so i can put my wagon into storage when the state decided to add too much salt to the road.
sadly, the pinto is just a memory. Those where the days before digital cameras in everything and the internet required a dial tone. I think about it time to time and kick myself for not getting any photos
Welcome to the forum, Bill. We have another "Reverend" member; might make for some interesting theological discussions. "If God hadn't wanted us to have long roofs, he never would've invented the station wagon".
i am what you may call an eagle fanatic. so far i have 3 out the 5 models offered, the wagon, the sx/4, and the kammback. i know of a 4 door sedan that i am going to work a deal to be mine in the near future as soon as i get the lease signed to my storage garage/shop
Mannnn...I envy ANYONE that has a storage garage to keep their cars and work on them. Back in the day I had property and I would just throw up a good size pole building on slab and I would have my garage. Don't have property anymore so I have been searching around to rent something decent. Can't find anything. There's a guy in Madison that rents space for 6 months for $600....inside, heated and has around 50 other cars stored there. Trouble is, in my mind, you never know what's going on in there with all those people going in & out all winter. Some have work stalls there, too. And, while $600 doesn't seem like a lot of money to some people I think it's a lot to just let your car sit there. OTOH, it sure beats sitting outside. I can't believe that I can't find a place to rent closer and cheaper. You are a lucky guy to be able to lease something yourself.
