Hi all! My gas tank has a few pin prick holes so needs to come out and be re- sealed. My fuel gauge on the dash doesn't work properly so i'm thinking a new sender unit while its out would be a good idea. Anyone know if the sender units in the 73 olds clamshell wagons were the same as the GM sedans of the same era? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks tom
Pretty sure the sender would have to be different than the one used in sedans. The wagon has a vertical tank in the left quarter, and the sedan uses a flat horizontal tank under the trunk floor. The amount of vertical movement is very different between the two tanks.
absolutely positively NOT THE SAME! Sender on a car is about foot or so deep. sender on the wagon is angled and about 2and1/2 ft long. also there are 2 tanks sizes for them, I believe it was a 2 or 4 gallon difference. I have never noticed them different but had seen it listed.
thanks for the info guys. every advert for them I see says doesn't fit wagons so im guessing they don't reproduce them. ill see how I go with existing one.
