I’m new to wagons and I wanted to know is a 1966 Ford ranch wagon the same as the country squire? Just the bottom of the line like xl vs lariat?

Welcome to the Station Wagon Forum!

I think you've pretty much got it.
In Ford's full-sized wagon lineup for 1966, you had the base model Ranch Wagon. It's sedan counterpart would have been the 'Custom 500'. Then you had the 'Country Sedan' wagon. It's sedan counterpart would have been the Galaxie 500. Then at the top, you had the wood-paneled Country Squire, which had certain features of the top-of-the-line LTD model. (The interiors were not QUITE the same.....) The BODIES of all three models would be the same - just certain trim differences.
