I'm a Ford man through and through. I bleed blue. But like the Taurus cross-over fiasco, here is yet another "wrongness" that Ford is doing. Destruction of the Galaxy legacy. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/ford/2013-ford-galaxy-ar128340.html Chap
The Galaxy is strictly a European vehicle. I wouldn't associate it with the 'Galaxie' that we had here in the U.S. in the 50's, 60's and 70's....
Reminds me of when Pontiac put the LeMans name on a Daewoo in the 1980s. Just wrong. Don't bring up the 2004-06 GTO. I don't care if it looks like a bloated Cavalier. 350-400hp....I'll take one! -Mike
And Dodge is bring back the Dart... I wonder what similarites they really have to the orginal car?
I thought the spelling of the US car that we are thinking of from the past was "Galaxie". Or am I missing something?
What if..........Ford brought out a "new" Galaxie in the form of a 59 lookalike bodied car with a modern drivetrain, maybe a 3v 4.6 V8??? Me and Rev would prolly buy a wagon version I bet!
I would only look at it if they did away with that dreadful lump of a Romeo engine. That thing is terrible! Give me torque and I'm happy. Give me revs, especially in a heavy car, and I'm passing everything but the fuel stations. No thanks. Been there, done that, never again.
Um... They both have engines. Truth is, IMHO, they aren't going to "remake" a car that is a true and honest homage to the original... But that's just me.
It is disgraceful. Think of the Galaxie and you think of a long sleek body, no computer module, a nice 390 carburatored motor a AM radio even. They should let the car name badge die out. Same with the Dart. Think of the Dodge Dart and you think of the boxy slant 6 run car, and the unmistakeable Mopar starter. Mopar starters have a sound all their own. Not the econobox pile of crap theyve named the Dart. This is as bad or worse then when GM made its Nova in the 80s, which was a Toyota Corolla in drag. This retro thing is a colosolly bad idea. You think they would have seen that with the PT Cruiser or the retro Ford Thuinderbird. I actyually liked the newer T Bird. But nobody bought them, christ 45K is just too much for a Ford ..... anything.
they would just make a freekin mess out of a 59....but...they could maybe do something cool with say a 64 Gal wagon...that i would entertain as for the new Galaxie???....I threw up a bit actually...the PT's were a huge success for Chrysler...and theres still tons on the road...sadly...the same cannot be said for the Tbird ! Mopar is the only company that ALMOST has a grip on it....tho a 4door Challenger????thats just wrong!!!!! Mind you...if they ever release that Cuda looking woodie wagon they were talking about....I might have to get one and if it wasnt for the Mustang.....my illustrious FORD would have missed the boat too
