Sure is nice to get outside and fiddle around with our cars after such a long winter!
As frustrating as they can be, at times...:90:
Especially if ya hafta pull the pan twice, etc...
I'm thinking that when we put mine back together it might be a bit easier! ;)

Life is a learning curve, eh?!?!

There's a pin (3/32" diam X 1.5" long) that goes into the modulator valve (First!, not in the tranny casing first.) I did the opposite and it fell into the newly gasketed and painted tranny pan. Remove 11 bolts, lying on frosty ground, wipe off the pin, install into modulater valve (vacuum operated) and clamp down. DON'T put the pin into the tranny body first. PITA!

Anyway, yeah. The guinea pigs got stuff to practice on.:biglaugh:

In the first picture I noticed a sizable hammer.:oops:mg:Was that for installing the modulator or what?:rofl2:

Close! I needed it to tap the pan flat. Had a couple of shallow dings. And tried to pull the exhaust pipe apart, but I worked around that. My new V8 exhaust is 2.5" diameter, but the 200 CID is 1.75 from the engine, so I had to use an adapter. It rattled at stop lights (in gear). The clamp was hitting the tranny cross member.

I know what you're thinking... "If at first it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer." :rofl2::rofl2: And sometimes I subscribe to that, but my baby doesn't need ouches, just firm nudging. She likes to know that I respect her. :rofl2:

Andy, I owe ya big time, buddy. She's on the ground, runs like a champ, and the starter meshes into that ring gear like it did in 1979. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

I need a new front seal on the 3rd member and flush out the muck. That's it for mechanicals. Well the carb and Advance Curve Kit.

I'll get a casting number on the rear end and see if its the same as US and CDN rear ends. The ratio is 3.07:1, not 3.08:1 like the US/CDN units.

I was just referring to draining the oil and taking the rear cover off, not the seal replacement.
I don't have a clue how to do the seal.

It's a pain, but it's not too complex.

    Drop the driveshaft
    Remove the big nut
    Pull off the flange
Peel out the seal and replace

It doesn't disturb the pinion/gear settings. That would be a major pain.

I just hope the seal is available.
