Enchanted Rock Texas New Years Run, Attempt #2! - Happy to report all the kids and I made it to Enchanted Rock and home this year, IN the Roadmaster, with NO DEER damage. Ha! My brother Dave and his dog Sophie came along too, and we visited friends in Fredericksburg, had a great German lunch at The Auslander, and also stopped in Luchenbach. Weather was in the 70's and perfect, drove home with the windows down and hatch glass open. Great Day! 416 miles driven this Holiday Weekend with all three rows occupied. Roady ran like a watch! Love that old car! Hope everyone had a Safe and Happy New Years Weekend! -Texas Mike
I was a little nervous about taking the Roadmaster after last year, in deer season, but we went earlier and came home in the daylight. No more night-driving the Roady in the Hill Country. Really nice trip and a great weekend. Other than that one window track clip cracking, the Roadmaster did great. I did have to constantly ask/beg the kids, and even my brother, not to slam the doors... but other than that, I loved using the Roadmaster for what it was actually designed for, and not just a toy to take to Cars and Coffee. It's so much fun to take that car on a road trip! -Mike
Well it is a road master. Even with my late model Impala I have to keep yelling.... reminding..... people to stop slamming the doors! My 1955 Chevy wagon has both front doors cracked from too much slamming. I suppose SUV's, Subaru's and Toyota's need shut harder!
I love my Roady, but the 94-96 Roadmaster door panels are total junk. GM went VERY cheap on the plastics, they crack and trim falls off too. I've replaced two panels over they years...and mine are perfect...but I live in constant fear of door-slams!
I get the same problem with those who ride in my Exploder. I can ask them to remember not to slam the door and they get angry at me, but I remind them if something breaks, A) they do not fix it or pay for it, I DO; and B) if they do it after I ask them not to, they are BANNED for one year.
