Hi All, I am glad there's a community like this for wagons! My story is this born in Georgia(Savannah) to Brazilian parents... My Dad's first car was given to him. It was a, if I remember correctly a '63 Impala wagon... He didn't keep it long as him and my mom were eyeball'in the new Mercury wagons... Why the wagon well I have two older brothers and an older sister. So, 4 kids is why, the wagon was the family car of the day... My dad bought the Mercury Colony Park with wood grain... But, soon after traded it in for a newer one, don't remember the full reason(I'll be posting those pics of the family wagons later). The wagon carried the family from Georgia to Lancaster California then down to Chula Vista California, a lot of miles on that 429 motor..! Funny enough in Lancaster my Dad bought a Corvair wagon... So, moving forward to today. I love cars and own a 1962 Pontiac 4 door Bonneville as well. The Squire story is like this. I drove past the wagon for a few years on the way to work... Well, I finally stopped in at the deli just next door to the wagon... No one was around so i slipped a note in through the top of the window. A few weeks went by and I thought o.k. nothing to come from my note... Well, I did receive a call and it was the man who had originally bought the wagon from a local dealer. I met him and looked it over... and made a deal and drove it home. So, now it's in the process of being restored well a resto-mod really... Thanks for reading my story. Look forward to meeting some of you one day. Any help with the wagon is totally welcome and appreciated! Sincerely, Erik
Nice wagon, Erik. Like the '62 Bonneville as well - love 4-door hardtops, although I've never owned one. Welcome to the SWF. Marshall
welcome to the wagon train The woodie does look a little worn and spent. Lemon Pledge and Armour All are quick fixes. A few years back, the Wagonmaster posted a link to a company that still makes quality woodie to replace it with. Ask, and you should get info on it.
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home. Great choice of cars, too. Those big Ford wagons are beautiful indeed. I've always had a soft spot for the 61/62 big Pontiacs as well, and that Bonneville is gorgeous. One thing I do enjoy seeing the the difference between our Pontiacs here, which were all on the shorter Chevrolet chassis, and the American ones. The look is very different, even though most of the details are the same or similar. Our Parisienne was trimmed like the Bonneville, but used the Catalina brake lamps, as an example. My Grandfather's best friend had a 62 Pontiac Parisienne 4 door hardtop, and I always thought it was one of the nicest looking cars on the road back then. Have lots of fun around here. Sounds like you have great plans for the old Ford, and I can't wait to see what you are going to do with her. Be sure to post pictures, lots of pictures. We need our daily recommended dose of Station Wagon Porn around here. Michael.
'71 Side Molding or Trim... Removal..? Hi, I want to remove the side trim or molding around the woodgrain vinyl... How is this done? My car has the aluminum molding that is held on by square clips. The clips are connected to pins coming out from the body... Is there a tool or a way to push the molding up or down to disconnect? Thanks in advance for your help. Erik
