I watched the original Gone in 60 seconds today and saw a Cadillac wagon! In the beginning of the movie, you can see a list of cars they will steal and one of them happens to be a Caddy wagon. You finally get to see the blue wagon when Maindrian Pace inspects all the cars in the warehouse before he returns Eleanor.

You know those cheap DVD discount racks? I picked up 4 of McQueen's old flicks for $10.00. Some are in Black and White. The guy was a car junkie. I get the winners and losers for those evenings when TV is between seasons and go nostalgic for one actor or another. But McQueen has a special connection for me. He grew up rough and tumble, and after graduating, I got a good mid-manager job and found out my boss, the GM, was a Variety Club cheese. I heard of a youth school for street kids, and chatted about volunteering to live and work there for 3 months. He gave me 3 months sabbattical. McQueen paid for the movie, produced for our National Film Library called "Listen! Listen! Listen!, and THEN paid to have a copy sent to every social worker in Canada and the US.

The school was run by an ex-mercenary soldier who was in for Murder and Heroin, and got a degree in Sociology and Psychiatry, and swore he'd make good for his crimes when he got out. Special place, saved a lot of kids from a dead end life.

Many of the 'Grads' have built websites in appreciation and out of respect for what they received - their lives. I've yet to see any sites giving such praise for their time in Jail.

So McQueen is well remembered, here. I'm on the hunt for the Bullitt DVD now. :D (y)

    This one?

It is a Fleetwood Brougham (it has a fixed B-pillar) with a GM clamshell roof grafted on it. Most likely a 1973. Although I can't find a front end shot at the moment.

IIRC, there is a frontal shot of the car as he's walking through the warehouse. I also remember the list of cars and their codenames that included "1973 Cadillac Wagon" and the name... I can't remember the name, though...Karen, was it?...:banghead3:...now I'm gonna have to watch the movie again, just to remember the name.

Car from movie was a 1972 sold new at Cashman Cadillac in Las Vegas. I have a 1973 exactly like her also sold new by Cashman and originally owned by Sam Mints, former owner of the Blue Angel Hotel in Vegas

That's a very rare car parked on the right side of the Caddy wagon, too - some kind of Chrysler - Ghia coupe. Halicki was quite a character. Had a salvage (junk) yard in Gardena, Ca - an area I worked in. Trouble is, he wanted to be IN THE MOVIES, so he basically funded the whole movie on his own, without too much outside investment. Almost went broke doing it, too. He got some amazing cooperation from the surrounding cities - Redondo Beach, Carson, Wilmington, Torrance, Long Beach - those were primarily the cities 'the chase' ran through.

Part of the chase runs through the Mazda dealership where I bought my first new car......
