Asides from dragging it home, the past few weeks have been a interenet safari in itself hunting for vintage and period correct parts for the engine build and overhall. so in the past few weeks i have aquired a small shoping list of parts to do a super duity build on my safari wagon. why not tri power.. well i wanted something a lil bit diffrent. so heres what has been purchased and well the work and installation come next. 1 pair vintage early 60's eara mickey thompson Valve covers. 1 pair late 50's early 60's valve cover breathers. 1 pair of carter AFB 4028s carbs from 60's chevey 327 1 early 60's offenhauser dual quad intake manifold. 1 set of carb spaces. 1 set of dual oddball air cleaner covers. *unique diffrent and definatly not run of the mill. 1 stewart warner mechanical Tachometer. *the car already had after market early 60's stewart warner temp and oil pressure gauges. 1 late 50's GM starter with tach drive. * the car came with 2 additional starters pluss the one it had .. hopefully i will be able to rebuild the tach drive one with what i have for parts and sell the other two. so yeah its slowly comming along and will post pics once the postall delivery completes.. and man my poor wallet is crying but i hope this all turns out for a spectacular build.
Sounds great so far. I remember having one of those mechanical GM tach starters and tach in my 1957 Chevy when I put in a 327. Here's what makes me cry. I sold my 1960 Austin Healey Sprite with SBC 327 and Offy 3-2 set up back in 1965. I'm sure I could have put a 4-barrel on it when I traded. Not only that I left several 2-4 intakes and single 4 intakes in trunks when I sold some old cars. Some with carburators. Had to get rid of that junk somehow!
