Alright so, my delta came with the AM/FM stereo with no rear speakers, and no wiring, but I couldn't use the wiring if it had it, common ground between the two speakers. Anyway, I need brackets so I can put speakers back there without cutting out the parcel shelf and surface mounting them. Anyone got a set that might fit? Pic below to show you where they should be.

Years ago I had a 78 Buick Electra with the same back shelf. I had a stereo put in, and the shop had no problem using a sort of stretchy plastic piece they had in stock. No idea what it was made from, but it was sort of clear/translucent, and clipped into the little brackets at each end of the speaker mount. There is one other option if you can't find anything like that. Lift the interior cover, and drill holes through the metal. Use the flattest head bolts you can find, and bring them down through those holes and through the mounting holes on the speakers. Put nuts on them, and Bob's your uncle. Put the interior shelf material back in place, and monkey find the puzzle, you're done.

Those are common 6 x 9 speaker cut-outs. I think he's looking for original hardware. Otherwise, he'd long been using aftermarket stuff

Yeah, trying to find original hardware so I can mount new speakers. I'll probably just flush mount the 6x9's I plan to get, deciding between any of these three speakers, might go with the rockfords. I plan to cut a hole in the parcel shelf so the sound isn't muffled though it, probably glue it back down so it doesn't rattle. I'll order spacers with the 6x9's so there is no issue with fitment against the stock sheet metal.

And, the Rockford Fosgates I'm looking at (most likely to get these or the Kickers)

Also, I made this nifty 1977 GM to 1989+ GM adapter so I can order a fit kit for the radio for a 1989 Custom Cruiser using the panel I have, pics below.

And the dash panel from the 1989 (left), and 1977 stock panel (Right), plood is a different shade, but all of the interior is faded to different shades, so I don't care. It allows me to put in a modern stereo without cutting up a nice shaft knob panel. I have a plan for the holes where the power mirror switch and rear window / defroster switch use to be. I'm gonna mount the USB cable that comes with my head unit in the old power mirror hole, so I've got a 1977 Oldsmobile with USB connectivity. Yes, that sounds absurd to me even.

Adapter I made by pulling the plug off the factory radio:

    http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g139/Dead-Reckon/1977 Delta 88 2013/IMG_0721.jpg

    Wires are as follows:

Green (not connected) Signal for an antenna or amplifier to turn on
Brown (not connected) No use, don't know why GM put it there
    Black with stripe (connected) Ground
    Yellow (connected) 12v ignition power
    Light grey (connected) Headlight dimmer
    Turquoise (connected) right front ground
Dark grey (connected) left front ground
Light green (connected) right front positive
    Tan (connected) left front positive
Orange (not connected) 12v memory constant wire, will connect to cigarette lighter circuit with a T connector.

I know, my soldering job is pretty terrible, but I learned this stuff back when I was 15 (Where did the past nine years go?), and I haven't really practiced much.

The factory radio had a rather crude stamped diagram on the back, but I also pulled the factory dash speakers to double check, they look every bit of 36 years old. Still gotta tape up the connector, could have shrink wrapped it but I did not have any on hand, tape will suffice. Also, I may try to get a used Polk Audio PA660 4ch amp off my friend he had in his Mazda 3 series. I'm not gonna hide the rear speaker wires for now, unless I do a lot of interior work to this car, a pair of wires going down the center hump with some tape under both seats to hold 'em isn't going to really hurt anything.

Also, if you need to find your factory radio (Roughly 1980's up) wiring, look here, might not be, but I've had good luck.

The factory install used those flexible rubber type of straps. They hold the speaker nice and tight to the metal so no rattles. The shelf material is meant to be acoustically invisible so you don't need any external grills. That is what was done in my 78 Electra, and it worked a treat.
