Does anyone here have shaved door handles? I've been thinking about it, but not sure how to wire them into an older car. Or, the "best" way to wire them into an older car. Everyone I've talked to(with shaved handles)has them on newer cars and trucks. I heard everything from running the pos. wire right to the ign.(hot), to having to rewire part of my car.
Can anyone here help me out? Thanks for any help.

You can do them a number of different ways. Do you want to have a button to open them, or would you perfer to have a remote? I am guessing you do not have factory power locks? If you do, just wire into that.

We just put some on a 70 challanger, but we also added power locks.

Let me know a direction ya want to go and I will help ya out

Ampy is right! If you can get a power door lock wiring diagram from some other Ford/Merc/Lincoln from 1965 to 1986 (4-door, not 2-door) you can use the PDL cirucits and still get new relays. I'd scoop the complete PDL harness and relays from another car, with or without the actual doorlock motors, and install that to keep the wire colours consistent - easier to fix later. I installed the PDL and PW in mine this summer, from a manual system too. Piece of cake. Take the wires from under the front seat too.

Yes Sir Ampypants, I would like to have a remote to open the doors. I don't however have power locks or windows, maybe in the distant future, but not anytime soon. Its all stock wiring. Thanks for any help!

They make stand alone systems, that work similar to an alarm in functionality.

Come with programmable buttons, just wire them all up. I think the kit normally runs about 250-300 bucks.

    Just wire up the poppers.

If ya are interested I can look up some part numbers for ya, or possibly get a kit ordered for ya.

EDIT: There are some good prices on that site and those are the kits that would work
