Was looking for something else on ebay and came across this. It is a couple of years old so not sure if it is already been discussed on the forum. It covers a builder in Memphis that converted regular station wagons from 1946 to 1969. Some were stretched but some were just given high roofs. It's 120+ pages but unfortunately all the pictures inside are in B & W. Still a lot of cool stuff. It originally sold for $35 but I got it on ebay for $15 including shipping. There are more on there if anyone is interested url=h[ttp://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/gallery/showimage.php?i=12594&c=4] [/url]
Some here might also be interested in a photographic history of campers and RVs. http://www.truckstopmodels.com/osc/product_info.php?cPath=13&products_id=5579 As for hearses, another one to look for which is probably out of print, is by Crestline Publishing. Very expensive books, even when new back in the 70's, but Crestline books always featured 1000's of photos and illustrations covering nearly all variations from every year of the manufacturers covered. http://www.abebooks.com/American-Funeral-Cars-Ambulences-1900-McPherson/973467856/bd American Funeral Cars & Ambulences Since 1900 McPherson, Thomas A. The books each covered every year up to the date of publication, and along with the 1000's of pics in each (all b&w) they included as much raw data as was available at the time of publication (production #, length, wheelbase, engine choices etc). These were always great reference books. I now wish I had also purchased the Hearse and Ambulance book, the Woodies and Wagons book and the Studebaker and Hudson books when I had the chance.
I really like the Crestline books also. I have the Hearse and Station Wagon ones, I didn't realize they had gotten that pricey. I have a couple of the others but I really want the Lincoln/Mercury one.
Unfortunately I only have one book at the time. Professional Cars: Ambulances, Hearses, and Flower Cars by Gregg Merksamer. http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Cars-Ambulances-Hearses-Flower/dp/0873496426 Really good book!
