Yup. Custom Autosound was expensive junk and I'd never recommend them to anyone. RetroSound won't be a big bass thumper on its own, but it has all of the sub and amp options built in to make a really nice system. It will also work in practically any car:

Another vote for Retrosound. I've got one in my Montego wagon.

These folks seem to have a good product also. $410.00 to convert my factory radio. Www.turnswitch.com.

I would like to keep it simple and use the radio in the dash. I do
Iisten to FM but I also take the Wagon on longer trips and do not want to hunt for stations. I really like the USB. input which can be controlled using the tuning knob. Thanks for the input!

sorry to jump in, but are you sure?
I believe a 3,5mm headphones output is a high level signal while an amp only is able to use low level signal via the cinch connectors. Not sure if this would burn your amp. Although some amps are equipped with high level signal inputs, these are all meant to accomodate speaker cables from the head unit (in case the head unit has no cinch output).
At least that´s my experience so far with car hifi systems....
