That's a mid-size wagon right? Anyone know what engine?

Sounds like its in really good shape for 31 years old

    If it's a small V-8 it has to be around a 350. My 1980 Malibu had a 229 V-6.
I wouldn't care if it looked and ran nice.

I would think it might be the 267 V8 like on the 1980 Malibu wagon I went to see last december.

Nope. It's most probably the Chevy 305. Brochure indicates the following for the '83 model year:

    - 3.8 V6 standard
    - 5.0 V8 available (brochure indicates it's a Chevy division motor, so that makes it the 305)
    - 4.3 V6 Diesel available
    - 5.7 V8 Diesel available

No mention of a 5.7 gas available in '83.

Whichever engine it is, it would be rear wheel drive, right?

    Correct.

1983 was the last year for the RWD "G" body wagon. Note also that this is a full frame car. It would be replaced in 1984 by the front wheel drive "A" body Cutlass Cruiser that was considered part of the Cutlass Ciera line, and was of unit construction.
