Have a 1965 Chevy BelAir SW, and recently saw a 1965 Pontiac Catalina SW cousin at a show...the Catalina had a panel flap between tailgate and body that mine does not have...wondering if anyone can tell me if the BelAir was supposed to have one, was it just an option, or only available on the Catalina or other models? Would like one for mine, as there is a gaping void between tailgate and body when open, it would be very nice to cover that up...and then next question, where to start looking for one? Seems it goes in the piano hinge, which might be a bugger to install...anyone else worked with one?? Thanks much for any suggestions, help... OH and if anyone knows where to find the weatherstripping or the trim that goes around the tailgate/window back, would be greatly appreciated as well...that's the only part not "redone", and it's getting very tattered looking.
Hi I also have a 1965 but mine is an Impala I don't know if that makes a difference but mine does have this panel flap that you are talking about. what exactly do you want to know perhaps i could take some pics?? also the rubber that goes around the back window - you could do what I did - take it off, get a hot glue gun and fill any missing pieces/cracks or holes then get some spray paint and paint it to match your interior color and when re installing REVERSE it to hide the blemishes, if too far gone look on ebay I saw someone selling it.here is the ad it's red though just paint it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Impala...rim-/121460584963?hash=item1c479d7203&vxp=mtr Now being that you also have a 65 I have a question about the front seat. I'm trying to figure out if the front seat has chrome /panel that runs along the front of it or maybe the back??. I have these brackets attached to the seat near the back bottom on both sides and have no clue as to what they are for??? The seat does currently have the side edge chrome on both sides. Don
Hey Don, Sorry for delays in reply... I have seen a 1966 Impala, but it did not have the flap either...so wondering if it was just an option on some models/years. I would like one, but my car doesn't have the piano hinge either, so it might be more of a project than I think. If you could post a pix, at least I can try to figure out if I can even find one or make it work in my own...thanks! I will check out the windlace and also think about your suggestions. Thanks so much!! On the seat trim...hhmmm, mine does not have it, however, my cousin had the seats redone, so not sure if it was there on original or not. I will have to look through old family photos to see if there is a shot of the actual seat, but I can't answer that now, as mine does not have it I will ask him next time I talk to him if he remembers a chrome piece, that is not there now?? Thanks again!
