I have the complete diff out of a 65 New Yorker , and taking a quick measurement it looks like it will swap in my 64 . The 65 has 3 inch brakes and non tapered axles. Looks like I can swap in the complete diff or just change the axles and backing plates ? Any Ideas? Thanks

Dan, when we came back into Canada, we had to get the wagon passed through the 'Safety Certification'. We had new drums installed in Mexico. They are thicker than Canadian/ US Fairmonts. The guy checked and made me change them. No kidding. I don't know if that's an issue in California, but just thought I'd point it out.

That '65 rear axle housing should be swapped as a complete assembly. You CAN swap backing plates, axles, third member, and all, but why? If the '65 housing and all is good, it's a whole lot faster and easier to swap the complete unit. Your e-brake cables may need to be swapped, but I do not think that'll be necessary.
