Ever since I was young, going back 45 plus years, I have always liked/obsessed over 64 Rambler Classics and Ambassadors. We had a Classic 660, with the 287. I used sit on the curb and polish the "V8" emblem on the fenders. My parents friends had the top of the line Ambassador 990. I had a crush on their daughter AND their wagon. I would sell a kidney for one now. I scour the internet, once in a while I come across one for sale. I've seen this for sale before. Well equipped but way over priced https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/5441700383.html
That is pretty cool, I've never seen one of these with a console or the AM/FM radio. "Weather Eye"....I think that's Rambler(AMC) moniker for their heating system. I think I read somewhere they were first to come out with the ability to blend indoor air with outside air way back in Nash days. High tech heater for the 40's. Edit: Here's a good article on the Nash HVAC system, they were indeed ahead of the others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_Eye
I agree the asking price is reasonable to me if you really want one and that one is very well equipped for the day! Most Buicks or Mercury's did not have FM or A/C in 1964!
i rarely pick apart someone else's ad, but...if you look at the all the pics on craigs list, you will see it needs things to justify the price. the dashboard is incorrect. the ambassadors had a wood grain overlay, instead black paint on metal. and the padded visor over the speedo would have extended over the a/c outlets. it looks like the dash is from a 63 Classic. Plus, the carpet in front is obviously non original and the cargo area carpeting is missing. the carpet used in ambassadors is very unusual and nearly impossible to find. and the front seat were reupholstered incorrectly. i hope the seller gets his asking price for his sake
