Just noticed..... While the '57 Caballero has the requisite Buick portholes, the '58 Buick designers decided to forego that styling touch for....more chrome - evidently. I can hear the stylists talking; "You think those portholes plus all that chrome is a bit much?" "You're right - trash the portholes...."
I did not know if you had the rare split rear seat. So I just included one that I had in my albums. - Dan
Hi. Has anyone come across any parts or parts cars that could help me with my caballero? I have rang several yards with not a lot of luck. Still waiting to hear from a couple. The car is stripped and motor is getting rebuilt. A bit more rust in the rear end than I thought but could be worse. Thanks for any more leads,Rob
Dear Dan: Yes, mine has the split rear seat as well. Dear Rob: You should try Desert Valley Auto Parts, DVAP in Arizona. They have a few 58 wagons that I grabbed some bits and pieces for the cargo area. Very nice, knowledgeable people. Cheers. Michael.
Dear Luke: I have a call in to them now. I know they had two late last year that I got parts from. I'll report back when I hear from them, hopefully soon. Cheers. Michael.
That would be great. Its a bit frustrating, im not sure if they they understand me over the phone and I am not getting replies to emails. I appreciate your help, thanks
Next time, put a lot of chewing gum in your mouth before you pick up the phone. They don't speak the Queens English, just their own funny dialect, something they call American English
Hi. I just thought I would check again to see if anyone has come across any parts cars that I could use for some good chrome and various other bits? Thanks for any leads, Rob.
Aldon's in Lamont, Alberta has a couple of '58 four door Buicks left. Ask for Herman at 780-423-2236. I have had some luck with DVAP in the USA. Ask for Red or Dave 520-836-7960. And Sue at Wheatbelt Buick 580-855-2449. Mine just got out of edge painting and am starting to pull bits and pieces out of boxes and baggies. And, more chrome to chrome. Cheers. Michael.
Hi. Is there anyone that lives near Duncan BC that could have a look at a 58 special there which is on ebay? I was thinking that if I buy the car and find someone who was willing to strip the parts I need off the car and send them to California, and that person could have the rest of the car. I am after good chrome, the wheels and tyres if they are good, heater box, some interior parts, headlights etc. It would be of more use if it was a century but its a bit hard to get what I want for the right price when I am over here. Anyway , if you know of someone trustworthy that would be willing to do a bit of work, this could be an option for me, thanks, Rob. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...6083130?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item415d2cacba
