Hi. My name is Rob from Australia and I am new here. I have always had wagons of some sort, but i have just recently bought my most challenging one, a 58 buick caballero. I am about to start a restoration on it and am trying to get as much information and resources as i can. It is possible that this is the only one in australia so I am wanting to find some decent parts to get sent over.If anyone has any experience with this car or info I would love to hear from you. Thanks for reading.
well ya sure picked a cool one to try and find parts for its not easy to find parts over here to the joint Rob
Welcome Rob! Good luck with your resto project. Post up some pics of that Buick when you get a chance. There are a few threads here on that American classic.
to the wagon train, Rob. Well...the 58 Caballero happens to be one of my very favorite wagons. So.....I'm jealous. Parts won't be easy to find for that rig....pretty rare even here. We will keep an eye open for you, though.
I havent started to pull it apart yet but hopefully get the motor out next week. I will try and get some photos going when i get a chance. I am hoping a lot of parts that i need are are common with the hardtop sedan.
Rob. I'll bet you are correct about it being the only one in Australia. I've never seen one in the US in person.
Well....the buyer better hope there are a LOT of "extra grill bits" in there. That grill has 160 of them!
Welcome, Rob. I'll have to say first that your wagon's going to be one involved project, to say the least. That would be a tough project here in the states, but for you I can't imagine the difficulty of getting all the parts you will need. Good luck, and welcome to the forum! Marshall
Hi Rob. Welcome to the forum and best of luck with the Caballero. They are one of the most unique and beautiful wagons ever produced. Here's some motivation to keep you going!!
Well...we don't KNOW that this is Rob's wagon. Erik posted that "chances are" it's his wagon. Might be Rob's, might not.
Yup....snoot's correct for sure....it certainly IS one of the most beautiful and unique wagons ever built. I love the retro, chrome laden, 50's space ship look of this behemoth!
Seller's comments quoted below originally posted by Erik. Did this ad have a price in it, Erik? Quote: Originally Posted by seller: This car that needs to be out of my Yard, as I am a Ford man. A very rare and sought after model, but a rebuild not for the faint hearted.
By the way....if this car happens to NOT be Rob's, he should snap it up for parts! I assume it's in Australia. Seller doesn't seem like he would want a lot for it the way the ad is written.
