NOTE DISCLAIMER>>>>>> This wagon is posted in the proper forum, Ebay, Graigslist, private sales/non member, etc, etc sales...rite!? Sooo if your foolish enouph to NOT read the forum charter and "think" it's my personal car 4-sale ( witch if it was would then be in the proper forum) then please send me $100 cash no cheque and I will answer your questions with , "no, it's not my car, read the freeken forum" .....Has it really gotton so bad that we need a disclaimer to post a post? Here is the car, $100 cash and I'll answer any question,,,,,cash first http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/1955-Chevrolet-HandyMan-2-Door-Wagon_15983277 pricy, looks nice but IMO needs some finishing touches...seats don't look rite without the head rests.....
I have a few problems with this,Tedy. 1st is it will take a long time for a $100 to get to Canada from Louisiana and by that time the car may be sold and my question won't matter and I'll be out 100 bucks 2nd is the US dollar is down so I should probably send $200 US or something worth something to you, maybe like BACON, the real bacon not that HAM y'all call Canadian Bacon and the 3rd thing is I just remembered I don't have any money or bacon so some of that ham...I mean Canadian bacon is sounding good right about now
Quote: Tedy: ".....Has it really gotton so bad that we need a disclaimer to post a post? " Well, It shouldn't be. I've never got any questions on any of these that I've posted, but I know some have.......
There certainly shouldn't need to be a disclaimer but a lot of folks these days are driving computers without a license, if you know what I mean. Given the impatience level and attention span of today's computer user a lot of assumptions get made in the blink of an eye. Folks want answers today without having to put any effort into it, or think too hard. How many times have you done a search for a car on a classified site and found 20 instances of what youre looking for along with five people claiming to be searching for the same car that seems so readily available and asking that people call with prices? It seems silly to me that things need to be spelled out for people but I've had three users contact me about ads, one of which let me know that they had contacted the seller and didn't get a response (after less than 24 hours) so they wanted me to contact the seller on their behalf. 3 isnt a large number(although they were all in the same week) but I have a macro program that inserts the disclaimer pretty easily so I'm not out any effort. Just as easy to put it in there and spell things out for the non-readers out there. I just don't want new members to get a bad opinion of the forum when they ask me questions I can't answer, or dont see any need to answer, and I don't respond.
In my opinion (which is always true!)there are too many other significant stresses in life to be on the defense that someone might ask a question concerning a posted picture that is volunteered and not asked for .... if indignant due to anticipated question then probably best to not post anything at all! I visit probably 6 or seven sites that periodically post Craiglist listing and I dont recall anyone ever assuming the contributor was the actual car owner. Tedy .... smile dammit! You cars are broke, the septic broke, and the dog ate your slippers .... find some humour (cannuck spelling!) in something! LOL
If it were a case of someone going away saying "Wiz is an a$$" then I wouldn't care. Everybody does that! My concern is somebody going away saying "Those StationWagonForums guys are a$$es". It's not my forum, and when I'm here I try to carry myself in a manner that would garner the type of reputation that the forum and, indeed all of you here, deserve. This is the best bunch of people its ever been my pleasure not to meet and I wont have anyone saying otherwise because of me if I can avoid it. A little bit of Canadian-style preventative politeness. My computer is set up to dump my standard disclaimer anytime that I have a new post window open and I hit CTRL-SHIFT-D. It's so simple now that I do it even without thinking so it's not like I'm going out of my way to coddle the stupid anymore.
Well it ain't bacon! That'll be a $100.....or some bacon, ya know...the maple kind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeKSiCQkPw
--------To change the subject. Our get back to the aformentioned red 1955 Chevy wagon, mine looked pretty much like this one when I bought it except for the rear wheel openings being rusted out. Therefore I changed to Nomad quarters.
... getting back to the wagon. Looking closely it appears the rear wheel well on this one also has a bit of cancer and if the cure is a pair of nomad wheel well then thats the better. I think with all the tri-five parts suppliers out there anything can be bought ... this is a nice wagon, as is yours and any two-door wagon is highly valued.
I'm going to be like Xavier. I'm gonna wish this wagon would follow me home. I always wanted a red 55 Chevy Handyman.
