Love everything except the passive belts. Excellent price, too. I would want more info on the crate engine installed. Didn't know you could get a Olds 307 crate engine. Would be nice if it were a 350 Chevy.
I agree, the passive belts are a drawback. That is why in a lot of these wagons 89 is a very desirable year because it doesn’t have the belts. Plus, in 89 the sedans got fuel injection. I have the passive belts in my 96 Buick Century and in my 1991 Cadillac Brougham. It’s a shame they are there because I can see them out of the corner of my eye as I drive down the road. But, I still enjoy both of those cars very much. I like this car but it is probably a 5 hour drive away from me.
Where does he say that it's an Olds 307? All I can see is that he says it has a crate engine. He also says it's "brand new." If that's true, it's certainly not an Olds engine, crate or otherwise, as Olds hasn't made an engine in almost 20 years.
I'm guessing the seller is using the term "crate engine" interchangeably with something from a rebuilder like Jasper much the same as others mistakenly use the terms "rust free", "restored", and "good body" to describe their cars for sale.
For the record, those dumb seat belts are only on the last year of these G.M. models (excluding Pontiacs, which weren't made in 1990.) Ford and Mercury didn't get them.
