last saturday my 1984 country squire was broken into and they stole the stereo and car battery. those are easy to replace. what pi$$es me off is they damaged the passenger door vent window. the frame was bent which is the hardest part to find. glass is easy. would anyone happen to have a lead for the entire assembly? the glass is already installed if the whole assembly is there. attached is a photo of the damaged vent window. a 1981-1987 country squire/ crown vic/colony park/ grand marquis SHOULD work, but 1984 year model would be prefferable

Your biggest problem will be finding the part. The vent wings were optional in the big Fords, and I would say that maybe only 5% of them had that option. A 'regular' door would have just one-piece glass.

Do a search on Car-Part.com for your area.

This place is about 700 miles from you, so they would have to ship it. Best bet is to find some place that has it, send pics back and forth to verify they have the correct part. On my search, closest place that may have it was almost 200 miles from your zip.

Thieves are so lazy and cheap these days. :hmmm:

$9 will buy a 22 inch folding slim jim at O'Reilly. Saw it this morning when I went to get a rear view mirror glue kit. It doesn't take up any more space in your pocket than a 1/2 inch combo wrench. :slap:

I almost bought one, but then I realized I have AAA. But then I realized the last time I called AAA to unlock my wife's truck, the Texas locksmith guy they called refused to come because we were a mile inside Oklahoma. The Oklahoma locksmith guy refused to come because we were too far from him in Lawton, 45 miles out. We broke a window which would have cost almost $400 to repair. Sold the truck instead.

So I still didn't buy the thing but I'm going to when I have a spare $9.

Those no draft vents were available on sedans and wagons (same parts) right through the end of the 91 model year and I believe the glass and frame are the same for the entire 12 year run of the body style. They seemed to be relatively common here in Ontario. Next trip to a yard, I'll keep eyes peeled. As an aside, they were a $187 option on a Grand Marquis in 1989 in Canada. They cost $2 MORE than the 351W.

Sorry to hear that bro. Happened to me once and yes, a broken window IS the worse...beside them pulling out the wires instead of cutting them. That was years ago.
Since then, I DO NOT LOCK MY DOORS. I have a hidden radio that I use with my MP3(plug and play), hidden speakers(out with the old, in with the new), and use battery hold downs. I keep my door pins up and when you walk by, you CAN see that its unlocked. Look inside, looks like someone already took the radio. But my question...who the heck are stealing radio's these days?
