Hey, at least you're making progress!!! My tailgate totally rusted away at one corner, finally couldn't even help it up by hand. Not only does she look great, but it's a wealth of inspiration to get going on mine!
Absolutely AMAZING!!! David, you definitely have the skills. I finally have had time to browse others projects and had caught your's a couple weeks ago, but hadn't been able to respond. This cold rain is a bummer, but luckily we normally don't get ALOT of it. Last year when I was working on the disassembly of my Torino there were also a few days that I couldn't get anything done and other days where watching TV just seemed best. Looking forward to seeing your progress and it's probably safe to say "I'll see you", hopefully sooner than later, at any of the local cruise in's throughout the metroplex when the wagons are done. Great job again!!!
Thanks guys, Your kind words of encouragement help me along. Between work and weather, progress moves at what seems to be a glacial pace for me. This morning I woke up to snow!??? But here in Dallas, it never lasts long, and tomorrow will probably be nice and sunny. Saturday is the next day I can work on it, so here's hoping for good weather! David
Well that's another first for me, from you! Never saw the workings of a Clamshell gate. Fine work. From the side, not surprisingly, it looked like a Rivieria at the front. That is going be one awesome Buick! What size font would you need to get that whole nameplate done?
I will go on record as saying......that is not only going to be a one of one wagon,...It is going to be THE coolest wagon EVER! You have a great eye, wix!
Hi Everyone, I just joined this group after seeing this thread posted on v8buick.com, I just want to echo what I said there, This is one freekin AWESOME project!!! I absolutely LOVE it!! will really like seeing it in color when it's done!! I have thought of this myself many years ago after seeing a photo of a similar conversion in a hotrod type of magazine of a 1977-79 Chevy Impala/Caprice Wagon with the same parts from a '77/'79 Chevy Impala/Caprice Coupe, unfortunately I am like most of you as you describe yourselves and lack the talent and thoughfulness that can easily be seen here!! GREAT job David and can't wait to see the finished wagon!!!! Welcome Dana! Make sure you say hi in the introduction section, so everyone can welcome you to the group. Thanks for your enthusiastic approval of my crazy project. It has been fun. You have a lot of great wagons, so get a sawzall and a welder and get to work! David
I finally had a nice day to work on my Buick. I'm still working the metal. I love clean steel, and I wish I never had to cover it up with primer and paint. David
Another photo op of the coolest wagon on the planet! Yeah, wix....I like that steel look too. I wanted to do one in clear coat over bare metal but I got talked out of it. Probably a good thing.....
