Wow is right. This is nicer than that one on eBay with the added vinyl roof that the guy wanted I think 30K for or something like that. I might have to take a look at this one since it's nearby just to see it. Plus look at the size of those aluminum buildings behind it. Must be a lot of nice cars stored there.

All the options except cornering lights AND rear window defogger. So that's all the options - 2. Still, a very nice car. He'll have to go some to get that price, I think. As nice as it is, the market for these is small, and, with nearly 100,000 miles, it has been around the block. I notice that there are no photos of the underside. Not that I would expect problems, but with that many miles, he should show it to assure potential buyers of its rust-free condition.

    Wow, nice car.

Was dual exhaust a factory option in '72?

What about 60/40 front seats and chrome bumper guards? If available, these options are also missing.... although I like the looks without the huge bumper guards.

I checked the 1972 Buick brochure. Looks like the 60/40 front seat was only available in the Electra that year. Here's a pic from the brochure that if the cops saw on the road today would likely lead to quite a number of citations. :biglaugh:

So what's a realistic price? Do you guys think it's worth 18,000? I'm a cheap ass but still think 12-13K. Tom

    Here's a '76 that brought 18k in 2012.

With the recent discussion of the ceiling for prices for GM clamshells, I was reminded me of this incredibly beautiful and totally loaded 1976 Buick Estate Wagon that sold on eBay by this dealer in 2012. The selling price of $18k seemed unbelievable at the time, but it has never resurfaced for sale so far as I know. It looked perfect. I feel sure the new owner is enjoying it completely! I would!!! :yup: :bouncy:

I called the seller today and asked if I could look at the car even though I wasn't a buyer and he said sure come on over. Real nice guy with a few other very nice cars including a 53 Buick wagon. He bought this car as part of a package deal from an estate. I figured something this clean and loaded wouldn't be up for sale unless the previous owner passed away. The other three cars he got in the deal were basically in the same condition, mint.

This 72 is pretty well perfect for being 44 years old. I couldn't find a single crack or chip in the dash and the carpeted load floor looks like it's never been used. It had a hitch on it and trailer brake wired in under the dash so it must have towed something back in the day. It has 99,000 miles but looks like 30. The door panels were almost completely mint and the landau/vinyl top was perfect as well. The tailgate seals looked like new which was amazing for me to see. New dual exhaust which sounded just right when the car started right up.

I didn't drive it because I wasn't a buyer but the seller said it drove like a new car which I believe. Other options I saw were automatic a/c, 8 track and a clock. He did say the a/c may need a charge. The dealer emblem on the back said Grande Prairie on the bottom so I'm guessing that's Grand Prairie Texas. You really can't go wrong with this Buick if you want a mint clam shell.

I do see a dent in the rear passenger door. Upper side center. I bet that could be fixed by a dent specialist.

    I've said it before....

Depending on the vehicle, it sometimes is better to pay a premium for something very clean (like this example), rather than spending less and chasing 'fixes' around. I guess it depends on your money, your experience, and your patience. IF I had the budget, I think this would be a good deal at $16k.

Completely agree about paying more for a better car if you have the budget. I didn't know about this forum when I bought my 76 off eBay. It had 100k+ miles and needed a motor rebuild, paint etc.. and it still isn't finished and I'm north of 10k easy. Even when it's done it won't be remotely close to the condition of this one.

My 1999 Suburban was the same way. I could list the issues it's had but the most prominent one was the transmission rebuild which we got someone to rebuild for a reasonable price. One of the previous owners bashed on it hard since the ATF was coming out pitch black, it looks to have been a southern car though as the frame's not in bad shape.
